It's Yorkshire Day once again.

Please excuse the ignorance of a Southener, but could you possibly explain 'Yorkshire Day'?
Yorkshire day
GreyDesk Posted Aug 1, 2002
It's the one day in the year that the rest of the world knows that it is inferior to Yorkshire. On the other 364 days it still is, but we just don't rub it in

I used to live in Yorkshire. I learned all my cricket there. I'm going back next weekend and I will buy some Yorkshire Relish when I am there.

Today or Yesterday?
Hope it's not yesterday as I forgot to celebrate!

Sho - employed again! Posted Aug 2, 2002
Yesterday, but you can redeem yourself if the cricket gets played today, and doesn't descend into the cricketing equivalent of a penalty shoot out.
Although, really, every day is Yorkshire day!

Not everything on the other side of the penines is Lancashire (hard as the old biddies try in Southport). We spit on the woolybacks. Yorkshire is far enough away to be neutral - at least it isnt manc-chester or down south
