Mel from first series was not a nice person I thought. She needed the attention of all the men and as they left she went onto someone else. She was visibly really jealous when another pretty girl entered (Claire?) and apart from Nick was the only person to get booed when she left (The first time the public had her as a person up for nomination she was out because they could see through her) I remember she had kissed one of the men and really led him to believe she liked him but he was there to meet her when she came out and she gave him the cold shoulder because she had already moved onto someone else in the house.
Not that I watched it much mind !

Did you know that a poll carried out on the respondants to the voting every week showed that just under 80 percent of them were FEMALES. smiley - wow

Now what does that tell us about this *programme* smiley - huh

Not even remotely surprised by that - they were probably in their teens too.

I am curious as to what this tells you about the programme ? Please explain as I am only a stupid girl (albeit a thirty five year old intelligent one)
I wouldn't be surprised at the statistic but I do know there are men out there who don't admit to watching it. The poll must have relied on people admitting to voting because when you call you don't speak.

Well *if* the poll was accurate it could be taken to say that the whole BB thing was set up just to attract female viewers and give them a talking point and keep them away for the important issues of the day.

Actully that might be one thing that its got going for it. smiley - laughsmiley - ok

If the show was designed to attract female viewers, why did we get endless close-ups of breasts, bikini lines, bottoms etc. etc.

Women, on the whole, aren't as keen on that sort of thing.

Anyone read Ben Eltons new book 'Dead Famous'?
It's all about the Big Brother phenomenon. Very funny book if you like BB.

But surely these *revealing* shots were to encourage gossip amongst women... ie Did you see such and such. Wasn't that terrible/wicked/bad/huge....

I can't wait to see what she/he does now.

So the show goes on.

I've read the Ben Elton book. Didn't think it was very good, personally. Mind you, when you solve a murder mystery ages before the final pages, you're bound not to enjoy it a lot.

Ben Elton is a dirty sell-out who deserves to rot in the sell-out hell alongside Billy Connolly and Dennis Leary! Has he done an advert yet (Ben Elton that is), if so then he, as Bill Hick said, is off the Artistic Roll-call forever. Every word he says is suspect and every word that comes out of his mouth is now like a t**d falling into my drink!

Charming!

I read the book, and was very happy with it. Although I didn't like that I didn't find out who's been murdered for half the book, but still.

A dirty sell out, I don't think so. He emigrated to Australia as that's where his wife lived when he met her. Jolly hard to do stand up in the UK when you're living in Australia.

I'd rather he was writing books than doing nothing at all. I always like his crusties!
