Does anybody know why the foreign office have catergorised the British Antractic territory with the 'low' terrorist threat. I did'nt know Penguins had fundamental radical beliefs!!!

Yeah, but have you seen the way those penguins are watching you?

I think, possibly, maybe, because the FCO doesn't have a category of "non-existent". Perhaps.

Obviously they're worried about terrorists trying to dig up The Thing.

Not him

I'd like to know why they recommend medical insurance. Surely if there are no medical facilities there then there will be no medical bills...

Firstly they say that there is no medical or search and rescue facilities in the territory. Then in the next breath they say that you should have comprehensive medical insurance if you travel there!

What's the point? By the sound of it if you have an accident whilst in the territory your comprehensive medical insurance turns out to be merely a comprehensive piece of paper smiley - silly

You need the comprehensive medical insurance *because* there are no medical facilities out there. If you fall ill or get injured, you'll have to be air-lifted out. That costs a lot, hence the need for comprehensive insurance. Search and rescue is another matter. Anybody going down there will be part of a tour group, working there, or part of an expedition. In the case of tours, you shouldn't be going far enough to get lost. If you work down there, your colleagues will be kept informed where you're going, and if you're on an expedition there'll be radio contact with a support team. So why do they need to maintain search and rescue?

No doubt there is an association with GNU/Linux's 'Tux' mascot.. smiley - geek

GNU/Linux is perceived by Micro$oft as a threat..

Ergo...
