Makes great reading this thread, but I think I'll let someone else write this up if they feel like it. Be good to read.

Definitely one CD, preferably bought in a shop. Otherwise those poor musicians just have to do loads of quiz-shows to make cash.
I might try some of the Oldfield, Tubular Bells has been looking at me every time I go into a music shops for the past year.

Ohhh - so hard.
Maybe The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
it would be as good as any other single record. As would his Let Lve In.

Selected Ambient Works by Aphex Twin.
Because it IS the past, the present and the future (or should that be phuture?) of music all rolled together by the greatest musician since Mozart.

...or maybe Selected Ambient Works II?
...or Nightmares on Wax's "Smokers Delight"?
....or David Holmes' "This Films Crap Lets Slash The Seats" (mostly for the fact that that HAS to be the best album title of all time!)

Definitely REM's Automatic For The People. It's what I put on when I wake up in the middle of the night, and is the one album I really couldn't do without.
