just curious about what jobs you wouldn't do no matter what the pay. i work in the sewage industry and know alot of people who screw up there noses at the very thought. i just think of all the good i'm doing for the environment and community and get on with it. so what jobs do you hate?????
Personally i hope i never have to be a waitress again. being polite to imbeciles, not my idea of a good time

I'd have to say that I think being the person who empties the port-a-jon with the truck has got to have the worst job around....I'm still thinking about it though, so I might change me mind........

umpires would also go in that category...
personally I would hate to teach primary kids or do any kind of nursing

I once worked in a meat factory (when I was majorly desperate for money as a 19 year old student) - fortunately they prevented access by wanderers to their abbatoire. It was permanently refrigerated (cold!), the work was boring (typically packing mince into those plastic boxes you get in supermarkets) and its wasn't too nice hearing trucks full of bleating sheep coming in in the morning...
Didn't make me veggie, but I would *never* work there again.

Cleaner (especially in a student hall of residence). Been there, done that; there's only so many times you can scrape vomit from sinks without losing a little part of your soul forever. Same with having to vacuum 93 rooms in a day and a half.

I just couldn't be a binman, or the chap who picks up litter in the street ***sometimes with his bare hands!*** I'm not the obsessive compulsive type, but that just turns me hot and cold. Good job that I *never* drop litter.
I once served breakfasts in a posh hotel. Yuk. You're grumppy, they're grumpy, your boss is a bitch and nobody tips at breakfast - can't say it's the worst though - I seem to have come off quite lightly...
...worked in one pub/hotel where I had to hide slug pellets in the pattern of the dining room carpet - mm-mm!

I agree with all of the above, but I would like to add:
Fishmongers - they must surely smell of fish the entire time.
Pathologists - cutting open all those dead bodies (especially the ones that have been festering for a while).
Chiropodists - I have a foot phobia and the thought of spending every day touching peoples smelly feet makes me crawl.

I have a friend who is a nurse and only yesterday she was saying that their is a massive shortage of chiropodists in the UK - wonder why
Don't ask how this subject came up BTW.

My mate's hubby is a chiropodist. Horrible job. ugh. He's not well at the moment, so maybe that's why.

Oh yes you've reminded me - what about the poor laboratory workers who have to test people's 'samples' for food poisoning? Not a nice job!!

Hmm, anything that would be cleaning of yucky things. Dusting and vacuuming I can do. But no cleaning toilets or sewers for me. And probably no accounting either.
I could imagine being a pathologist though, I like the whole crime lab thing.

it's amazing how alot of these have to do with cleaning up after others. i suppose it's because you don't know where they've been.
i also think a crime lab would be a good job. there a programme on here at the moment called CSI. and it makes the whole thing look great. suppose its not like that in real life though

Have any of you chaps who fancy being a pathologist actually been close to a body that has been dead for some time? There are no words to describe just how unbelievably disgusting it is. Then to have to cut it open and poke around in it doesn't bear thinking about....

I don't know how much I could take, I mean after a while the body gets bloated and swells up and all the gases escape and that's nasty. Man, try getting near deer road kill after it starts to swell.........pew

Speaking of road kill... uhm, never mind.
No that's not fair is it - I started to say something and I should say it. OK, any of the emergency response workers who deal with highway crashes.

Being a paramedic or a member of the emergency services can be a very harrowing job, however it can also be very rewarding - imagine going home and being able to say 'I saved someone's life today' - it would probably make it all worthwhile.
