Americans, Bush and Global Warming

Sorry. Bad joke. Just the thought of someone attempting to administer the climate. Let's move on.

I wouldn't like to estimate the number of enemies GW has made during his first few months in office. The fact that they pulled out of the environmental agreement just shows how ignorant he is. One of the things he has said in the past amused me -'it's not pollution that's harming the environment, it's the impurities in the air and water that are doing it.' (He said it before he became president, which scares me a little to think that he could be voted in)
Now that America, one of the super-powers has pulled out - what reason do the poorer Less economically developed countries have for cutting their emissions, none I tells ya. Besides, Bush is in because they couldn't count.

No one seems to like the President around here very much. His decision to back out of the Kyoto Accord seems to be backed up by the Senate, which voted 95-0 to drop it. It's not like he's alone here.
If you think that Vice President Gore would have won the election if the votes were counted differently, then you have to accept the fact that his supporters were too stupid to vote properly.

that means about 45 democrates voted against it as well....I guess all our liberal bush bashers around here didn't think of that.....

I take it that you all know of the head of the "US Environmental Protection Agency"? Christie Whitman. How many remember this from January. The lady doesn't even know the difference between the depletion of the Ozone layer and the gases which warm the atmosphere.
This from the same lady that says "Stumps count as Trees" (Getting ready for those carbon credit auctions?) This is like a cruel joke being played out on the planet.

As I am not American, I couldn't possibly comment on who I'd prefer to be president, Bush or Gore, besides - the simple truth of the matter is - Bush is, so what does my opinion matter? It doesn't. I was simply commenting on Bush's lack of intelligence, nicely illustrated by this quote, 'We're going to have the best educated American people in the world.'
Ok, so I don't like him much, but he's not my president - so what if he ruins the environment for the rest of us?

Er... Mr Potato... If someone wrecks the environment for me, I may not care exactly who they are, but I will care.

stumps count as trees? there *HAS* to be a basic intelligence level for someone to live! I guess this one has made it all this time by pure luck.
Truthfuly I though both Bush and Gore to be imbisiles and the people who should have been presidental canidates where running for vice president!

Well, it seemed like America pulled out 'cause of Bush trying to rub his "victory" in the faces of Demacrats. Just wanna point it out.

I'd bet all, but I don't know. What happened to Ireland joining? I caught a headline this morning but hadn't had a chance to follow up on it.

HappyDude Posted Jun 12, 2001
er... would ya believe none (although some elements of it have been incorporated in law of various EU countries, no legislative body of any EU nation has ratified the whole treaty to my knowledge).
Side Note: Ireland & EU & last Friday's referendum
Ireland joined the EU in 1973, the referendum was on the treaty of Nice which was in the main about EU expansion but also included stuff that would allow the formation of an EU Defence force which is what caused the problem I think the Irish believed the EU Defence Force would somehow compromise their neutrality. This now means EU expansion is on hold.(http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A558966)

Apparently W has recently been critical of China for it's polution.
This is fair point on a national level because China is the second biggest poluter, however the important point is that their per capita polution is dramatically better. (about half way down the list of the usual suspects)

I am an American, and I am very amazed at how dumb the President of our country can be. At least he didn't win the popular vote in this election so people won't think we're all idiots. Bush made the wrong move in not ratifying the Kyoto treaty because he basically alienated himself and his party from the rest of our country and other countries.

HappyDude Posted Jun 12, 2001
and what's Europe's excuse for non-ratification ? I would really like to know why we have not yet ratified the treaty.
Americans, Bush and Global Warming
Two Bit Trigger Pumping Moron Posted Jun 12, 2001
I think it's because we won't. If the largest polluter in the world won't join the treaty, then does it really matter what Europe does. At least, I think that's what the perception is.
