Thelonious Monk - I'm Getting Sentimental Over You
From 'Live at the It Club - Complete'. To my ears, one of the best recordings the great piano man *ever* made. Stride meets standard with oodles of swing. (And you can even hear a telephone ring...)

Does anybody know of any percussion ensemble CD's? Rather than rock, electronica, world, etc., I'm thinking something like Blue Man Group, but without the rock band as on their DVD. Or something like the college music schools do in their perc. ensemble concerts, e.g. new compositions specifically for perc ensemble. I can't find much.

Something weird my younger son left for me to listen to: it's Paul Anka, yes, THE Paul Anka, you've never heard of Paul Anka, have you? Anyway, he's singing "Black Hole Sun"

B.B. King - Sneakin' Around
Steve K., I was gonna suggest Slagerij van Kampen, too, but Pheloxi beat me to it. Here's some more, if you can find them (I'm not sure about the availability of some):
- Jazz drummer Art Blakey made several albums which focused on percussion, such as 'The African Beat' on Blue Note.
- Frank Zappa recorded a few percussion-only tracks, such as 'The Clap' (on 'Chunga's Revenge') and 'The Black Page' (Zappa In New York'). And IIRC, one of his former drummers, Terry Bozzio, has been performing solo in the not-too-distant past.
- Fatala, a band from Guinea. Their album 'Gongoma Times' (on Real World) is really good.
- If you're more classically-minded, then Edgar Varèse's 'Ionisation' might appeal to you. Greek composer Iannis Xenakis has also written percussion pieces.
Good luck, and enjoy!

And
Dave Hamilton - Cracklin' Bread
instrumental funk with rock sensitivities (if those last two words aren't an oxymoron ).

Pheloxi, Nite owl -
Thanks for the tips on percussive music acts, like Slagerij van Kampen. I found some info on them by Googling, and even a few used CD's here in the states, sounds pretty good . A good example of something I would never have heard of except for H2G2 - I rely too much on Amazon . I'm still looking at the other acts, but glad there's something out there ...
