I have cats too. The truth is, they really don't do very much. They are 12 and 13 yo respectively.
Sammy (13) has arthritis, so he doesn't do much but eat and sleep. As we speak now, he's sleeping at the foot of my bed, his favorite place.
Bella (12) is far more sprightly, but she's just eaten, and is sleeping at her favorite place, the top of the stairs so she can look down and view her kingdom.

lol @ Terri
What kind of dog Fundamentally?
My arthritic kitty is a pure breed persian while my spritely kitty is a american domestic (aka - feline mutt). I wonder if the fact that Sammy is a pure breed is why he has more health problems than Bella does.
Sammy has relocated to the pillow, cat bath. (Actually pretty gross, I should prob kick him off my pillow for that)
Bella is outside chasing birds.

He's a toy poodle. I'm pretty sure he's pure bred... but I don't have any thing to back that up... he's pretty healthy with the exception of respitory problems and some confidence issues.

I had a poodle when I was growing up. Generally as a breed, they are supposed to have a long life span. They haven't been abused wrt in-breeding nearly as bad as other pure breeds. Our poodle lived until he was almost 18, and died peacefully in his sleep.
I worry about my poor Sammy. At 13 he has trouble with his hips and sometimes I think he's going blind. He can no longer jump directly up on my bed, and instead has to start on the chaise I have beside the bed first. The positive thing of course is that he can no longer jump on the table or kitchen counters any more. I will be devestated when he dies. Last time one of my pets died I got smashing drunk and had to take a day off from work because I was so weepy-depressed.
To keep in the vein of things...
Sammy is still sleeping on my bed (no suprise there) and Bella is hidden somewhere sleeping out of sight.

Awe... Ben (my dog) seems to have life left in him still, thank goodness. He belonged to my grandmother first and we had his brother, Bart.
Ben has to take running starts to get onto the beds/couches in my house... it drives my family crazy because his nails click on the floor.
I've only had to deal with one pet dying and she was a kitten still... I called her Silly Cat. She was obviously sick from birth. Her head was to big for her body and her eyes were HUGE. She was so adorable though. I was very upset!!! I still have lots of pictures of her!
Back on track... I'm still not home so I don't know what my pets are doing. My dog may be watching tv though (he does that sometimes).

We will have a new animal join my little happy family next week. My parents live out in the country and have temporarily adopted a little healer - shephard mix from one of their elderly neighbors who can't take care of him anymore.
I haven't had a dog since my poodle died (15 years ago), but I promised my older son (10) that we would get one if he did his chores this summer and took a dog care class. Pretty much everyone I know has been on the look out for an appropriate dog for us, so we are excited about the upcoming addition.
Sammy has moved!!! He has used a chair to jump up on the table. *sigh*
Bella is still hidden.

Yoda has moved from sofa to my lap, attempted to post on here, been removed from keyboard & then whinged (ah yes: definition= moaned in an irritating & persistent manner, like kids at supermarket who can't get what they want) & of course mommy gave in.
She is disgusted at "this is the end of the month so you get budget cat food" so i have had to console her with cream; is now back in box staring out of the window appealing to passers by to rescue her from a life of ill treatment.
Stp press she is bck on kyboard
I wish to be reborn as a pampered Siameseplease.

I didn't know dog care classes existed... shows what I know.
I'll ask my Dad what my pets are doing(thanks msn!)... hang on...
Apparently our kitten (little-itty-bitty-kitty) is still missing
My Dad claims that the cat and dog are making out in a passionate fury... but I doubt it. They are probably both sleeping.
Oh, I got a straight answer... the dog is licking himself and the cat is off somewhere being mysterious, probably murdering small animals.
It's all terribly exciting,

The kitty here(@ my cousin's) is in the bathroom. She likes to sit on the toilet and relax(lid down).

Isn't it a bit inconvenient, having a cat asleep on the toilet seat? Nobody ever likes to disturb a sleeping cat.
Our three cats are probably all asleep. Or hissing at the vacuum cleaner.
They're all upset with me at the moment anyway - they had their rabies jabs yesterday in preparation for going back to the UK next year.

Oooh, my cats get mean when I get them their shots! I can usually count on one of them to throw up a big old hair ball on my bed right after a visit to the vet's.
Sammy doesn't sit on the key board, instead he likes to stand right in front of the monitor so I can't see how poorly I'm typing. I'm sure he thinks he's doing me a favor, but since I am a poor typist, it is important that I see what I think I'm typing.
Poor itty, kitty. I'm sure your family is right and he is shacked up with some little fluff ball up the road. (or she is shacked up with some handsome tom, whichever is the case)
Sammy and Bella are both eating. I'm out of wet catfood and have caved in and given them some tuna.
BTW - Thanks for the def of "whinging", I've seen it quite a few times here and never quite understood what ppl were talking about.

My cat, Phoebe is great when she gets her shots, but horrible right before!
It is inconvenient to have a cat on the toilet... although I have never actually seen this cat sleeping.

lol @ Fundamentally. She must be young still. I think that's what my cats spend most of their time doing.
As a matter of fact, I'd almost wager a big bet that if I went home right now...
Sammy would be sleeping at the foot of my bed and Bella would be sleeping at the top of the stairs.

I'm not sure how old my cousin's kitty is... she's adult sized. They haven't had her from kitten-hood though, and they think she was abused at one point. She suffers from night-terrors and can be very flighty!

Generally, all cats are flighty. I am sorry to hear that she was abused. Both my cats were rescue cats. While it has taken a number of years, they've both come to accept other human companions other than myself. When my oldest was 8, Bella finally let him pet her. Now she'll even lay beside my youngest on his bed (as long as HE doesn't try to touch her).

My cats pretty mellow, but she was a little violent towards small children after her second litter... thankfully she's fixed now. She's even good with the dog!
