Falafel are fried balls made from chickpeas (garbanzos).

They are delicious. And the sandwiches are SO satisfying!

Thanks Psychocandy.
Have to try it in London next week. Don't get much variety here in Germany. Never tried Squash (the fruit/vegetable) Squash was a game that one played to sweat, when I was growing up.
Wholemeal bread
Butter
Roasted Beef (cut thin)
Lots of English mustard
A piece of lettuce!
Done!

I love wasabi! A natural food shop near my home sells a really nice wasabi mayonaisse, and I love to put it on egg sandwiches.

Wasabi mayonaise? Never heard of this... I had to try it. The things that some canadians do with their wasabi is to mix it with soya sauce, I can't eat it, it tastes awful for me... But I'll try to do my own mayonaise and instead of mustard, I'll put wasabi.

I think they add wasbai powder as opposed to paste, but either way- let me know how it turns out! I've never made mayonnaise from scratch.
I don't eat meat or fish, so I can't confirm this, but when we brought some of it with to a barbecue last summer, a number of people said it went really nicely with seared or grilled tuna or salmon.

Einmoto, this place does some pretty good falafels for when you're in London: http://www.london-eating.co.uk/5648.htm
Enjoy!

I can and it does. BBQ tuna with wasabi paste and sweet chilli is amazing. You can't marinade it though because the wasabi will actually cook the fish!
My sister says tuna is a sea vegatable.

I really have been away a long time Wasabi? Sound great, though!
RF thanks for the link: I think I'll try the Lunchbox.
Have I said how infuriating Subway is?

You don't need to. The bread is made of air and the salad taste of . The meat tastes of salt and the dressings are all vinegary.
So, you end up with salt'n'vinegary air-crunch thing. I don't think the ingredient selection of which they are so proud actually makes any difference to the final product. But hey, it's all so "fresh"! So that's OK then.

Sometimes the roast beef doesn't look all that fresh.
My sister has got a similar type of shop, but she doesn't ask her customers 20 questions about what they want. She also know most by name and greets each customer with a warm welcome when they walk in the shop.

I never used to eat at Subway, for two reasons. One, their veggie subs consisted only of the veggies that were used for toppings. Two, there are dozens of more interesting little sandwich shops that are far better for veggies and omnivores alike (including a local one called Captain Nemo's that has the best veggie split pea soup I have ever had). Now, Subway does a veggie patty similar to other places, and there's one less than a block from both home and office, so I've been there twice in the last five years.
Another favorite sandwich of mine, especially during summer: sliced hard-cooked egg, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, white cheddar or provolone cheese, and mayonnaise, on a crusty torpedo roll.

My ultimate sandwich (just kind of cutting in and posting it here, hope you don't mind.....) is:
White bread
hard salami(sp?)
lorraine cheese
optional lettuce or fresh spinach
By the way, I used to eat at Subway but I burned out on it fast. Too much salt.

EINMOTO - it would help if you didn't live in the sticks! Two places relatively close to you most likely have places where you can get falafel sandwiches (wraps) HH and H And I know that both places have Sushi places where you can eat wasabi to your heart's content (and get the runny nose/eyes combo that brings)
Our current favourite sandwich is a home-made-wrap: Brie, red onion and cranberry chutney and salad. Yum.

I'm normally *such* a food snob, but when it comes to sandwiches I just can't resist a packet of cheesy wotsits squished between two pieces of cheap white bread spread with thick butter.

Loved Wotsits ... can't get them here, unfortunately.
Bye the way, BoredLaura, I've written something in your page about me being in your bio ... should I take that as a compliment?
Take Care

I'm unable to eat wotsits or any crisps for that matter, although I will chance a plain hula hoop if the adrenaline is flowing. They (crisps) give me ulcers so big that the docter gets inappropriately excited and starts taking intrusive photographs.
Chocolate spread, popcorn and bannana in white danish.

Peanut butter and sliced banana. With or without some maple syrup on the bread.
