I don't have home access for the forseeable so only get online myself briefly at work, or in the library. I'd love to stay in touch with you though, but it might be better by email since I'm trying to limit my presence, just filling time on some of the goofier Ask threads really. I don't get online much from home myself- in spite of broadband access- and also get on mainly from work. Which some days means a goodly amount and some days not at all, depending on how motivated I feel to get any actual w*rk done.

Wanted to comment really quickly about "Intacto"... I haven't seen that one, actually, but I'm quite a fan of Max von Sydow. If you haven't seen them, I recommend "The Virgin Spring" (inspiration for Wes Craven's violent- but good- revenge flick "Last House on the Left") and "The Seventh Seal"; both are Bergman flicks.

Sounds good. I remember hearing about Last House and thinking it sounded a little too rich for my blood, but will investigate. A quick word about Intacto though; it's a great movie without a shadow of a doubt but it concerns people with an insane capacity for luck, which often involves surviving horrific accidents when others didn't; so proceed with caution.

No worries- movies don't bother me at all. I appreciate the heads-up, though. "The Virgin Spring" obviously follows the same plot, but isn't as graphically violent- it's more implied (which I've found can sometimes be a bit more effective). If you do check out "Last House" at some point, it really is quite violent, and I don't assume everyone has my tolerance threshold, so be warned.

It might get a bit much, but a lot of it's to do with context for me. Where and how, that sort of thing. I saw 8mm recently and it turned my stomach. But if I see any Hellraiser, I just end up laughing.

I didn't want to drag the films thread too far back into the backlog... "The Golem" is great. I'm assuming your film class will be viewing the original silent film, as opposed to the 70s-era remake with Roddy McDowell (although that one's a bit of fun, too ). I own "The Golem"- there's a distribution outfit here that grabs public domain stuff and puts out dirt-cheap, stripped-down (no extra features, cover art but no liner notes) DVDs for $3- $5 each. They also appear to do liquidations/remainders: I got the complete Monty Python box set for $49 instead of $149 retail.

It is the original, but I'm curious about the other one too now. Roddy McDowall's great. When you say the complete Python box set; do you mean the movies, or their entire output of shows?

I hate playing those Deathlist games... when my picks croak, I wind up feeling all . When they don't, I just feel stupid.

The equivalent of £25 for the full Monty sounds like a very good deal.

I do like the sound of Save The Green Planet, will give it a look when I can. And I have some ethical worries about Deathlist too (with the exception of Geoffrey Boycott, and 50 Cent).

Yeah, if you can kil off 50 Cent, you'll be an international hero of epic proportions.

Watched a film last night I think you might like. Can't send a copy, as it's on video and I haven't got that sorted yet. It's "Tales of the Gimli Hospital", by Guy Maddin. Short- about an hour and a quarter. It was really . If you can find it, I recommend it. Kind of like a cross between Bergman and Fellini, with a bit of a '20s-era vibe. Loved it.

Sounds moody - probably the sort of thing that would take a lot of digging to find, but I'll bear it in mind. Thanks for the tip.

I'm certain it's been released on DVD, but the video shop only had the video in at the moment and I really wanted to see it Right Now.

The nose is feeling OK. I can smell and breathe just fine, and there's no pain unless it's touched. It didn't really hurt much after Saturday. I scraped the side of my left hand, kind of like when you fall and skin your knees on the sidewalk, or a really bad carpet burn... that still smarts a bit. I still have a shiner under each eye, too. I'm hoping the raccoon look comes back into vogue. It'll save me a fortune on eye liner.
