Well... something to write about lets see,

Red blood cells are primarily compromised of Hemoglobin which gives them that lovely red colour, they unlike any other cell in the body do not have a nucleus and there only job is to carry oxygen which is absorbed in the hemoglobin while in the lungs... to other areas of the body where it is distributed through movement of the blood by way of the heart to keep those body parts alive. Red blood cells are relatively small so they can pass through the small capillaries and shaped somewhat like a disk in a healthy person.

Wasn't that interesting smiley - biggrin

hmm, what to write about today...

we're moving all the furniture in the house at the moment because the housing association has decided we need new central heating so we need to clear the area for when they come on monday,
really if they want the house to be warm we need new windows and doors, the back door has a slight crack in the wood... which you can see light through and water can get through.... we had to wipe mold off it the other day. I tried to get them to sort this the other year but the man who came to look at it started complaining about getting the vanish the right colour smiley - erm not really my priority if i'm honest... smiley - cross
so they shall be getting a phone call on monday if I can't contact them sooner.....

Charlie had his inoculations the other day, first mmr jab and whatever the other one was, thankfully he has not had an adverse reaction to them.

Oh MY! I feel your pain. We are having work done to our block of flats atm and had the central heating done last year. There will be ranting about this later in the month. Oh yes there will.

Ephraim was sent up to bed at about five last night,
temperature and vomiting
this morning bit of a temperature still but we have managed to get some calpol into him so its nowhere near as bad,
and he's eating again which is a good sign

the house looks like... some evil spirit has taken residence in it, we thought we'd take this chance to paint Ephraim's bedroom its been blue since he was one and he'd like an update so we're planning on painting one wall red but the rest an off white they will likely get covered in posters and all sorts anyway...

and perhaps start decorating the living room since we've been putting that off for a while now

Charlie is having his nap before he goes swimming with Daddy and Grandma I'll stay home with Ephriam and try to write some more of these assignments that I've got to do smiley - erm

a 1000 word essay on the components of blood and their functions (red blood, white blood, platelets and plasma)
and a 1000 word essay on how improvements can be made to the services for children and young people without changing the frameworks smiley - erm yay

oh and a Personal Statement.... for ucas,

so much to do, so little time that isn't going to get eaten up dealing with this heating thing...
house is quite cold without the heating on I suppose it is november so its not that early to be turning it on but honestly if they fixed the doors and windows it would be much nicer in here, you can hear the wind blowing through the doors... its strong enough to move the curtains

Those drafts certainly need sorting, what a waste of good money heating to have the air cooled again!

Hope Ephraim feels better soon.

something educational again i think

Platelets also known as thrombocytes are irregularly shaped cell fragments which stick together to form blood clots and stop excess bleeding /haemorrhage. When there is blood loss platelets react to the presence of oxygen and clump together to try to stop the blood flow using the protein fibrinogen to form a net like substance to trap the red blood cells, this then hardens to form a blood clot or scab. A lower than normal number of platelets in the blood can result in excess bleeding and possibly death, conversely a high platelet count can result in blood clotting too easily which may result in heart attacks and strokes.
