...and whiskers on kittens.
Favorite things -
Putting on a pair of thick, comfy socks that are still warm from the dryer
Large, wet snowflakes
The smell of apples baked with cinnamon and nutmeg
Shooting stars
Fireflies
Dancing a tango
Starting plants from seed
Waterfalls
Making new friends

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
One of my favotite Farside Cartoons was an image of a roomful copper kettles , packages tied up in strings and warm woolen mittens...
What a freak Gary was...

Right now heaven for me would be to wake up from a long, happy dream-filled sleep, feeling rested and ready to face a new day.

hassle free computing, on broadband...
and
Warm nights where the air temp is the same as my skin, and I can't feel the atmosphere...I feel all weightless and floaty

Sitting around a fire with friends you don't have to speak to to feel well together with
Early morning sun through trees
Having the dog jump on to my lap and both of us ending in a tangle of laugher and fur
Getting home from a travel and having the kids storm down the stairs
Having a calm moment with favourite music
Laughing with collegues after having done something utterly silly together
... counting blessings is a good thing. Titania had a good thread on it once a while ago, calling it 'pearls on a string' as I recall
I generally agree with raindrops on roses - but just here and now, I could do without raindrops on anything. It's ing wet! Oh well

Hypatia,
I am inspired by your post to go outside in the pre-dawn darkness and catch a snowflake on my tounge....it was way low-cal...

This made me stop to think... not often I do that so thanks, hyp.
a warm bath on a cold day
a smile from a stranger
blow drying my little 's hair. It is silky and straight where mine is coarse and curly
an unsolicited cuddle from a loved one
a good book on a slow day
Sunday mornings in bed

Finding something you thought was lost forever.
Warm flannel sheets.
Winter birds on the feeders...cardinals hopping across the snow

Lady Chattingly Posted Jan 20, 2007
The kitty snoring peacefully on her pillow under my desk
My grandson's "I yub you, Grandma."
A hug from the older grandson--and once in awhile a kiss.
An unexpected visit from my son.........
Emails from friends and family.
A phone call from my daughter--just to say "Hi".
And a glass of wine and a snuggle on the sofa looking at the "white stuff" from the warm sun porch.

A soft kiss with my wife, lips mushy, breath in small gasps
Getting a snuggle from my youngest daughter
Clear nights with lots of stars dotting the heavens
Finding an author who can weave a fabulous tale of adventure
Taking time to enjoy a good brew with good friends
Music that stirs my soul and makes me want to listen more closely
A leisurely swim on a hot summer's day, or splashing for fun
Watching a variety of healthy fishes in a clean aquarium [better than TV]
An excellent cup of java in front of the embers of a fire on a cold night
People who treat you nicely, though you don't deserve it, and bring you back to being your best self
Dessert first, on occasion
Fixing something that wasn't working
Knowing something that helps another person get the results they need
Writing a poem, a story, a vignette that touches someone's heart
Thank you, Hypatia, for prompting us to count our blessings, as they are so very many. It has the effect of sluicing away the negatives that pile up from the 'daily grind' and helps us remember what's good and right in the world.

Sounds wondermous, RJR.
I might add: Not having to get out and go to work on a day like today.
We are experiencing the promised snow storm. It has snowed steadily all day. We have an accumulation of five inches or so. It is not the dry powdery kind. It's the heavy wet kind that packs well and makes a good .
Hot mulled cider, anyone?

I shared my entry with A---- this afternoon, when she asked me what I was looking at on the laptop. She pondered for a few moments and shared with me an impromptu list of her own.
This is what she said...
A vital healthy body, even after all these years
The feel of the fresh air on my face while out on a walk
Wildflowers and beautiful landscaping
Having someone around to turn the bad into good with a few simple words of encouragement
A tight little hug and a quick little kiss from a happy child
A aparkling clean kitchen
Full cupboards
Something new
Five minutes of personal quiet time each day
Answered prayer
To know my husband is happy with me and desires me
Seeing my children succeed at whatever endeavor they’re engaged
Colors; black and white is not enough
The awesomeness of God’s creation
Chocolate (that’s one of his creations, right?)

"A sparkling clean kitchen" (and a husband who knows how to spell)
The 'a' and the 's' are a leetle too close to each on my keyboard. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!
