If you're interested in someone, it can be difficult if not just plain excruciatingly embarrasing trying to find out if they feel the same way. Personally it's a choice of three approaches.
1. Third party info...ask her friends, ask your friends, ask your freinds to ask her friends...usually ends in disaster - people lie/twist the truth, it invariably gets messy(!).
2. Wait until she is away from her mates..walk up to her..and ask her out..it'll probably fail, (unless you look like a movie star, have bags of money, are waaaaay cool, hung like a donkey, she fancies a free night out, or any combination of the above).
3. Get to know her, you might find you don't like her values!

Good flirt/Bad flirt and secret to successful flirting...it's all a question of confidence.

Be brave, take a deep breathe, don't take life too seriously and most of all enjoy the experience....it's how we learn!

try to find common interests. Literature, art hobbies then ease your way into conversations involving the person.

ask if shes an acrobat. if she is compliment her on how amazing that is. if she isnt, youve already found something in common.

either that, which is untested, or do this, which i have tried, with wonderful results, assuming you are in a place where they are seated and you are able to bring a chair from another place. put it next to them and ask if that seat is taken.
sit down. talk.

None of these are flirting - flirting is that exchange of double entendres and winks and smiles with the woman in the office. The cheeky grin with the neighbour as you ask her if her underwear has shrunk in the wash, or can she really fit something that figure hugging ?

Its the gentle sexual underplay, usually between two people who might, under different circumstances, possibly have been prepared to get to know each other better.

Its what we do with members of the opposite sex when we're married or commited, but want to pretend we're still young.

Flirting is that cheeky comment to the woman on the checkout at the supermarket.

Flirting is something that doesn't threaten the recipient, but makes them feel attractive, possibly embarassed.

I agree with "Mckay the disorganized" who said it perfectly.

Flirting is the fun stuff. That cheeky e-mail message to the co-worker across the room or the flippant comment as you pass by somebody.

Sometimes just raised eyebrows or a wink at the appropriate moment, to change a tame comment into a double entendre.

Basically the stuff that makes the day go by faster and brings a smile to both lips.

There has to be an intention.

This is for all those people out there who really make themselves look like an a** when they try to flirt.

***** Get to the point***** talk to the girl for long enough to find out you like her then cut to the chase. Ask her if she wants to have dinner, or something. Most of the time they will be astounded by the direct approach, and won't think to say no. Then at the resteraunt\cafe\bar you get to know her(also helps if you have had enough alcohol that you calmer than usual).

Is there a difference between flirting and chatting up?
I think someone on the lookout for a partner chats up while someone who enjoys the frissant of what they can do to other human beings in the warm and fuzzy depths of their psyche is a flirt.

Isn't "flirt" often used as a negative term for some people who won't go any further than banter? As in "Don't bother with them, they're just a flirt"

You'll be surprised just how much _wouldn't_ get done in the Western world without flirting, even between perfectly straight people of the same gendre.
