I've usually suspended my disbelief sufficiently to feel an emotional connection with the characters in the film. My most recent tears have been at:

Harry Potter (when he sees his parents in the mirror of Esired)
Spider-Man (when he can't say I love you back to MJ cos he's Spidey and has to go and save the world)
Shrek ( when Fiona changes into an ogress)
Ice Age (when the bad sabre tooth tiger comes back to the herd)

These point were the ones I would have been moved to tears if I wasn't trying to calm her down sadly.

not so obvious, this one.

In Men in Black, when Tommy Lee Jones is looking at pictures of his old girlfriend, and Will Smith syas "Well, its' better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" and TLJ fixes him with a stare and says:

"Try it."

I agree with the Empire of the Sun ending.

However the one that is guaranteed to get me is any point in the last third of "Buddies". For those of you who have never heard of it, it was one of the very first films ever made with theme of living with AIDS. And is definitely worth a view.

empire of the sun is THE most tear jerking film of them all. i've cried more at that than anyother film i've seen. perhaps it's like that because the film doesnt exist just to make you cry or to make a point. and the acting is so utterly wonderful.

Fiddler on the Roof - years ago, went with my mum & we were both streaming with tears.
I've always been prone to tears at emotional points in films but much more so, with books & TV programmes since having children.
Most memorably recently, The Trueman Show.
The strange thing is crying watching repeats when you know things will turn out OK.
Definitely very therapeutic having a good sob over a movie, but preferably on my own at home!

Armageddon...the whole movie. But, especially, from the moment she realizes that either her dad or her fiance isn't coming back to her, and then all of the way to the end. I can't even type about it without getting watery!

Any show, movie, or book involving danger or injury to children. I don't watch any of the hospital, police, or lawyer shows on tv, because something bad happens to a child in every episode.

I just cried my eyes out at the end of the film "Gallipolli" (starring Mel Gibson) which is about the massacre of Australian troops in world war one.

Normally you can dismiss things in films , but not when its based on real events.

Its a Wonderful Life. Every time.

I should point out that I have watched this film every christmas for as long as I can remember and still shed a tear or six. Pathetic!
