ok so theres so many things to consider
now it's been very warm here just lately, much warmer than it usually is in this country, it's been the type of weather english people normally go abroad for. Anyhoo it was much cooler than it has been of late yesterday, and in the morning I dressed scott in a t-shirt as normal and took him off to nursery (yes I know it's the school holidays but scott goes to a private nursery).
When I got back home I suddenly realised how cool it was so spent the rest of the day worrying about how much of a crap uncle I am for sending him to school without a jumper and how his mother wouldn't have done that .
Then this morning we had quite a kerfuffle, turns out small children like to stay in a routine. This is Scotts routine:
Get up
Wake Uncle Cal up by shouting
Uncle Cal opens baby gate on bedroom
Scott runs out goes to see the hamster (dawf russian) to say morning and have a little chat.
say bye bye see ya to hamster
Uncle Cal carries scott into bathroom for face washing and cleaning of toothy pegs
Down stairs to get dressed, have a drink and off to nursery (he has breakfast at nursery)
today I tried to clean his teeth before he'd said hello to the hamster, Oh my god, major tantrums on a colosal scale!
Toddlers and babies are an untapped resource that could be used by the milertary, anyone faced with a tantrum of that size will surrender right away. It's like make it stop!
So here I am frazzled from my mornings escapades and wondering what tomorrow will bring

Hopefully tomorrow will bring the wisdom to have his routine printed out in HUGE but pretty colours !!! And posted in every room.
Welcome to one of the zillion joys of parenting.

Kids DO NOT like a break in routine, even Alex gets upset if her routine is altered and she's nearly 12
You are not a crap uncle, you're learing by your mistakes, every parent and uncle does.
There are many mums, dads and grandparents on hootoo you can go to for advice and I guarentee the door will always be open and there will always be and for you

Just as long as you're there when he needs you things will work themselves out, it's not going to be smooth I can guarentee you that much but you have friends you can turn to

Yeah, kids throw tantrums now and again, especially at that age, and especially when the parents are enough to give them something they're not used to. Just wait until you try to get him to eat a new vegetable!
I'm glad he's doing well, though. If you need anything, you know you can depend on us!

You're doing exceptionally well, Cal. Don't get down on yourself. You have enough love and caring to raise him beautifully once you get the dents hammered out.
I, for one, am very VERY proud of you for doing this.

Well done Cal - it sounds to me like you are doing a wonderful job and I agree I am proud to know someone who would take it on. Scott is lucky to have someone as special as you to look after him
I cant give you advice on what to do - but I can be here to listen!
