Having shoved all my washing in the machine after a long weekend away, I was disturbed to discover when the cycle was complete that I'd managed to dye some of the lighter items a pale blue. The culprit I suspect is a large black cotton wrap, and I think that was its first time in the wash. The victims were a plain white t shirt ( easily replaced), and a thin white cotton cardi from craghoppers, which is not so readily substituted. Oh, and a pair of pjs but I don't really care too much what they look like.

I've had laundry disasters before-you'd think experience would be a better teacher!

I have a horrible feeling that my son's favourite dinosaur top is a bit pinker than it was before I washed it this week. I am blaming some tights my daughter got sent home in when she had an accident, but mostly I am hoping he won't notice.

I, too, feel that I should have got the hang of this by now.

I once ruined a whole load of adult non-underwear by forgetting that *someone* keeps pens in his shirt pockets and doesn't always remove the pens before removing the shirt. I'd checked all the trouser pockets...

I found the best solution to such things, is just have an entirely, or near entirely wardrobe of black clothing... seriously saves me a ton of time on laundry, everything is black, or various shades of blue, which play nicely together in the washing machine smiley - zen well, cept I ruined it by purchasing some white underwear, a while back, but I just handwash that to avoid problems smiley - zen

I ruined some brand new and expensive lingerie the other week myself. It's now a dingy grey rather than ivory. I've had even more practice at laundry than you Sol.

I was really cross with myself.

I tend to only buy colorfast clothing, but even so I'm very careful about not mixing dark colors with light ones.

My laundry mishaps are more likely to be overlooking a tissue or two that was in a pocket of a shirt, after which the entire load has chunks f white lint that have to be picked off one by one smiley - wah

Quick tip for that: wrap a loop of duct tape, sticky side out, around your hand. Then you can pat them all off very quickly. smiley - ok

Definately is... three of my favorite, black shirts, and the most expensive shirts I ever bought (though they were on an amazing offer at the time), are now so big I just can't wear them smiley - wah £300 worth of shirts... destined for the charity shop... I'm kinda trying to make do with some of my shirts, which are a bit too big, as I seem to not quite be small enough for L, but XL is like way too big smiley - cry I've a wardrobe in the spare room now, full of jeans that no longer fit, starting from about 40 something inch waist, down to 34.... and the 32" and 30" jeans I do wear, arn't exactly looking as tight as they once did smiley - yikessmiley - crysmiley - cry not to mention corsets that no longer fit smiley - wah
