Right. That's it. I'm putting this house on the market tomorrow.
My daughter just got beaten up tonight. Nothing serious - no broken bones, but a black eye, cut lip, scratched scalp etc. The poor darling was so shaken afterwards - probably will be in shock for a while.
Yes we called the police, got witnesses etc. Fat lot of good that will do.
I just don't want to be here any more.

Oh poor kid, I hope she'll be alright.
Are you sure you want to move out, I know you feel bad now, but it really isn't a bad place to live - where would you go that's any better than Holywood
Take a few days at least to let the dust settle and think about it

Yeah I do. We were already planning it. This has just been the final straw.
One of my neighbours told me that the girl who lived here before had the same thing happen to her. Plus the stone throwing contingent have already cost me 2 windows. I know Holywood still is a desirable location (I hope so - I'm seing estate agents tomorrow!)
But I just can't be here anymore.

So will you go out the coast or into the city then
I take it you won't leave the country - I hope you won't.

Lisburn.
Close to my daughter's school, good transport and shopping etc etc. Put an offer on today on a lovely new house - fingers crossed!

Ah Lisburn not too far from me then
Lisburn has a lot going for it at the moment, but still rough types about it if you're in the wrong place.
Hope you're lucky with your offer then.

Where are you then?
We'll probably be in Dai's place in Killyleagh in the immediate term, which is rather lovely.
Would stay there permanently except:
awkward to get to J's school
not very exciting place for a teenager to grow up in
psycholgically better for us to choose a house together than to move into "his" place.

What a bummer. I hope when you get settled into Lisburn things go a lot smoother!

Under no circumstances would I dare invoke the wrath of a short, flame haired Norn Iron girl, ever. Those cheeky little b'stards. I really hope you find somewhere nice.

Yes - good luck in your house search. What an absolute bummer. Are there any repercussions for the s**t's who did this to your daughter?

Not a very good situation in which to sell a house - how are you going to put it to prospective buyers?
Very sorry to hear what happened. And to think that at one point the biggest problem was the cockroaches, or was it in the scullery.

Aw Lucky- what a shock
I had no idea there was trouble going on I must say, when i visited and parked around the corner, i did feel a little intimidated by some of the kids hanging about near the car. But as mentioned, make sure you do your homework on the area- there's plenty of trouble in Lisburn as well. My usual advice on sussing out areas is to go there on Friday and Saturday nights-into the small hours if possible- if it's quiet then, then you should be ok at other times.
It's a real worry everywhere. Kids are just totally out of control. Apparentely there is now a new craze of firebombing cars in the Morningside area of Edinburgh- one of the poshest parts of Scotland! It's hard to escape the rampaging rat children
All the very best of luck to you- and a big hug to the wee one from me. Are we still on for a climb of Ben Nevis- March/April time?

Thanks guys. She's bearing up well - no broken bones or anything, although I think the shock of it was quite tough.
We have the perfect reason to sell this house - we're moving in together!
