I've been getting a whole bunch of confirmation emails in my inbox this week, so I'm not really suprised to find out that someone has managed to make a paltry attempt at stealing my h2g2 identity. Luckily the U-space has already been yikesed, so no immediate problems as of yet.
Just to let you know & also to ask anyone who has seen one of the "clones" at work to yikes their behinds.

I noticed someone calling themselves AKA and saying they were you, Saturnine. It was obvious they weren't either from the poor English. When I first saw the AKA, I was going to warn them that there were already other people using that and they might want to rethink their nickname to be something more original. When I was investigating this and then saw the claim to be you, I would have yikesed them but someone else already had!

Wow, Sat, I'm jealous - you're popular enough to have your own impersonators. When we print the postage stamp should we use the 'young saturnine' or the 'old saturnine'?

The Young one. Not know knowing what the Old one will look like yet, I think it might be best to go with the one without the need for Botox.

Crikey Sat... you would have thought they would have tired of it by now. Alas no...
How you doing BTW?

Saturnine Posted Mar 29, 2004
Me? Oh, I'm doing OK. I'm not dying, or dead, or starving or anything particularly bad. Trying to sort life out without having my brain implode etc etc. Life is fun and eventful and bloody complicated.

I had an impersonator once, for a while... It is well annoying! My sympathies.

That is just insane! I can't believe people would do that. That's just nuts.
I hope you feel popular, Sat. That's the way I'd take it, anyway.

Emulation is in fact the sincerest form of flattery, after all. Unless it turns into stalking.
Luckily it would seem, the emulators are of a *language challenged* variety which makes them easy to spot. If they were eloquent and reasoned......hang on, if they were that they most likely wouldn't be stalkers....

SEF Posted Mar 30, 2004
That would be my impression also but I'd need to see statistics on the eloquence of stalkers to be fair since that isn't the only maladjustment indicator characteristic (though it is a good one according to research I was reading just the other day).

Having actually taped/interviewed a stalkee (is that a word?)I agree. Some are surprisingly engaging and frighteningly (again, a word?) *sane*. In this case however I think we are dealing with a few challenged individuals. The fact is, if they are intelligent and cogent, they would deal with the situation in an entirely different way, IMHO.

...the sort that bombs abortion clinics, I'd think...

I hope not!
These seem more *I'm peed off but not enough to do anything that would indicate I have an IQ over 95* types.
