First you need to establish a base
Create a new entry and call it something simple like 'The Liverpudlians on h2g2 Club' or whatever you fancy.
If you are not sure about what guideml to use then simply take the code from another established club as a template. You could try A614503 (Dutch - the one I created) or maybe A1002259 (Irish) - you can see the page code easily by replacing the 'A' with 'test' eg http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/test614503
Advertise your new club at the end of you name... you would be surprised how effective this is (TheRatCatcher - Come join the Liverpool Researchers at A.....). Drop by the Ads page at A630019 and also let me know so I can make an Announcement in <./>ThePost</.> too.
Any problems just shout - although I am a little busy today putting the next edition of The Post onsite.

Could you help me by any chance?

Sure, but if I create it you won't be able to edit it. The best thing to do is send me an email via the link at the Post Office (just click on the name 'Post Team' above and you'll get there).
I'll create a page and email it to you to add to h2g2. Can you open Wordpad files?

Alternatively - you could think about joining A732458 'THE FLAT CAP AND MUFFLER SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB'
They are a great bunch from oop north and have a thriving community with regular Meets.

Hi Shazz
I would rather not put my email address in a public forum, so would you do it for me instead.
It doesn't matter if i can't edit it at all.
What are wordpad files by the way?

TheRatCatcher Posted Mar 18, 2004
Oh and yeah i would like to join, what do i do?
Do i just go in there and introduce myself?

Hmmm
I take it that all this technology is new to you? That is why I suggested that you email me... that way you certainly don't need to post your email anywhere on h2g2.
If you are forming a club and want members it is essential that you have the editing rights so you can add them when they join. Also, you will certainly need to update the club page every now and again... what if it is a huge success and you want to arrange a Meet?
Do you know what I mean if I say 'copy and paste' - and, if you do, can you do that with the device you use to access h2g2?

The FC&MC?
Yes... just drop by their page via the link I gave you and look for the thread saying 'I want to join' or something like that. It may take a few days to get a reply as I know the page owner has been a little busy of late - then drop by the bar and introduce yourself to the others in there and grab a or two.

My friend gave me the link a couple of days ago before he went away to Scotland, and i am only on a didgy box aswell.
Will this matter at all do you know, or do i have to go on a computer??
No i don't know what you mean about copy and paste, well not as yet but i could learn couldn't i?

Hi again TRC
'Copy and Paste' is a useful tool but I don't think that you can do it with a digibox unfortunately. Basically it gives you the ability to copy text straight off a web page and then place it down in an entry or forum. It saves a lot of time and makes creating other pages much simpler.
I reckon you should head over to the people who know more about your style of access. Click on this link A1027171 which will take you to the
The H2G2/LDers' Advice Corner.

You don't have to give out your email address to *anyone* on this site for any reason! If anyone says any different please refer them back to me! I advertise my contact email purely because I run the h2g2 Post (the newspaper) and h2g2ers need to be able to email me to submit their articles.
Of course I will still talk to you but you will have to forgive me if I am a little slow in replying at times. Running the Post and the club pages etc can keep me pretty busy!

TheRatCatcher Posted Mar 20, 2004
So i don't have to give my email out then, well that is a relief i can tell you.
What does submit mean by the way or let me guess, does it mean if i want it public, i have to ask first or am i wrong?
Oh i don't mind waiting for a reply, so thank you for saying that you will
Oh well i am off to my bed, for i have to be up by 7, it's just incase they ring me out for a job to be done.
If i don't come back to you aswell, it means that i am tired after work.
Shazz you you have been a great help.

shazzPRME Posted Mar 20, 2004
By 'submit' I mean that, if they have an article, story, piece of news whatever and want to see it in the forthcoming edition of <./>ThePost</.> they click on my email address at the Post Office page in order to send it over.
This site was, way back in the mists of time, set up more for people to write than anything else although a strong sense of community was also encouraged. Many like to write official Guide Entries and see their name in lights on the main h2g2 page. Some prefer to write fiction, comedic or personal accounts and these are more likely to be aired by the Post or The Underguide. Unless you have a burning desire to see something of yours published (ie appear in The Post) then you really have no need to use my email.
Speak again soon and have fun.

Hi Shazz
Sorry that i haven't been around much at all, but i have been rather busy at work, aswell as baby minding my little sister Hayley.
So if i have a story to tell truth or fiction, i just go your email addy and send it to you?
If i just wanted people to see my work, all i have to do is go to the post, oh i see now i was getting rather confused but i understand now.
Cheers again Shazz you once more made me understand.

Basically, yes
We do reserve the right to reject articles - if they break the houserules in some way or they aren't really suitable because of content or poor writing style, but I can't actually remember that happening. We can usually edit most items to give them the best presentation.
I hope that your little sister behaved herself!

Hi Shazz
Sorry for missing this posting, it's just that i have been stuck in the word games.
Anyway i would like to say that i mighten stay around for much longer, for you see i do postings to people and they don't come back to me at all.
I am staying for another week to see what happens, then if it doesn't pick up i am going sorry to say.
Anyway thanks for all your help, and it was very nice of you to take your time out with me.
I hope that we can still chat while i am waiting for replys, but like i said if i don't get any i will be going.
Take care
Phil TRC
