Amy more than likely where we will be meeting up things should be rather cheep...now if it was a NYC or Boston meet-up then I would say look out checkbook cus we about to break ya....Motel/hotel prices very from place to place and how nice of a place you plan to stay at...and I would have to agree with Theory if I was to take a trip with my wife (dang she must be invisable becasue I have never met her smiley - winkeye ) and I had to choose a place I would be way more comfortable with something I could control like a hotel room then staying with people that I have not personaly met or had much contact with...now if it was just me traveling then it would be a diffrent story....don't ask me why thats just the way I feel about the matter...smiley - weird

That's why I said 'if it were just me'--as in 'if I were single'... Of course, if I'd never met Tom, I probably wouldn't be working where I am now (because of some interesting twists between then and now) and would never have found h2g2, and this would never have been an issue...

I think with so many varible and unseen changes happening all around us that we could not actualy guess at our true...presence in this world let alone on a web site like h2g2....very strange topic actualy...kind of a "it's a wonderful life" but about H2G2 and having very little to do with a bank and an unless you count the ones on here...

Back to discussion... smiley - winkeye

Amy, I don't think there's any way you and Tom can stay at my house (trust me, I'd love it if you could)... other than the huge parental problem with that, we honestly have no extra bed, and the couches here aren't *great* for sleeping on (when I had my old room painted- now Shorty's room- I had to sleep on the one for three days because of the smell. It's not fun)... but like Jimi said in the main page for this, there's a bizillion hotels around this area. And they're all at decent prices... and I think average price is about what Theory said. I think. I wouldn't know...

Since I knew that already, sort of, and I know that Clive may be there anyway (hey, get him to sign up on the maybe list--then I'll have an example of someone else flying thousands of miles who isn't, as Tom puts it 'being paid to'...)--smiley - erm What was I saying? Something to the effect that I knew that wasn't an option...

here go all my votes
time/date:the weekend of Jul 26th-28th or Aug 2nd-4th...
place: the hershey park thingy
towel: I got mine from the last meet up smiley - winkeye

the way I figure it or the way I plan on doing it is arive on a fri night find my motel and all that mess check in have a nice dinner and a smiley - zzz then find the place we are meeting the next morning...if we were to do the park that is..it would be best to start early..if not then just putt around and get my self lost..then do the meet-up and depending on what time it gets over either try to sleep some of the tiredness off before heading back or just wait until the next day...I think I will be renting a car and driving down so that should be interesting

looking at hotels I have found stuff anywhere from 49 to 179 dollars a night for the first weekend...it defintly looks like a good idea to stay in Harisburg and not in hershey if thats where we end up going

*gulp*

I'm assuming that's just for 1 person? Of course, like I said, any hotel that's actually online would tend to be expensive... Any chance of one of the locals calling around for prices?smiley - grovel

Post 294

tacsatduck- beware the <sheep> lie

it should be the same price for two people actauly...its when you start putting more than one in a room that prices start going up and thats usualy like 10 bucks per person or whatnot...there was over a hundred hotels in the area and I only looked at the first 20 places and there was 4 or 5 at the 49 dollar mark which isn't to bad...

Shea the Sarcastic

There's Pennsylvania and there's Pennsylvania. I haven't looked at maps or anything, but if it's not all that far from NY, I don't even know if we'll need a room. We can just drive there and back. It's just the other side of Jersey, right? smiley - winkeye

Hello, everyone! I have been reading your responses every day but not responding to your responses. I was just wondering if Amy had any suggestions for a location closest to her, since it seems she's having the most trouble with the travel arrangements? Is Tom lightening up at all? smiley - smiley

Shea-- I think this area is a good 7 or 8 hour drive from New York... I'm thinking that's not a day trip. smiley - winkeye I really don't know.

I guess I should find out, hmmm...

Amy already knows this, as it happened when we were talking on the phone, so she doesn't have to look, but everyone else--http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F74902?thread=159168
