Mr. Christopher, enjoying the Magicians Guild game where he is called Polonius Franc, Elder Healer and local merchant Posted Jan 18, 2002
I believe that there is no one culture in this country (USA) because at any given period, there are several competing factions each vainly attempting to "correct" things.

Where will the Penn Meet be, anyway?

South Central PA... most of us live in that general area.
And that's about as specific as I can get for you.

So we just wander around and hope we bump into each other?

I have no idea...
Ok, so, the obvious: we need to get a general idea of what we want to do and where we want to meet and go rather soon...

Should I start making phone calls and seeing what we will be able to do?
Like a tour of Three Mile Island, or finding out about the Senators baseball team,or maybe a tour of the Wilbur Chocolate Factory, or even visit a real Amish farm,
Or more typical tourist things like Hersheypark or Gettysburg, or the Strausburg Railroad.
Give me some direction on what everybody wants to do and I'm make arrangements.
If we want to do more outdoorsey stuff, we could do canoeing on the Susquehanna River or the Swatara Creek, with rental boats. Hiking on bits of the Appalachian Trail or some of the side trails with a packed lunch.
There's really a limitless list of stuff. I just need a bit of direction.

btw: I've added links to the two travel and tourism welcome center sites for the southcentral Pennsylvania region. Perhaps you'll find an idea there that strikes your fancy?
These are pretty good sites for finding information, (tourism is the #2 industry in Pennsylvaina) so do check them out and post any ideas you might have so we can start to narrow things down.

I think we should do together things, like eating at the same table at a restaurant, or all take a ride on a historic locomotive. Indoors things would be best, in case it rains or their is a high pollen count.

Well, I know we no longer have to worry about picking something for the express purpose of luring Tom anymore, but I do know he did express an interest in Gettysburg...

Me: big on outdoorsy stuff, rides, goofing around without having to spend too much money. Not big on humid days outside (however), or spending huuuuuuge amounts of money.
Gettysburg is interesting.. been a couple times for classes but never on my own.

Cheap would be best for us, as well... And who was it that suggested the camping? That'd be lots cheaper than a hotel... We *do* need to get plane tickets, after all...

The Theory Posted Jan 22, 2002
Don't be too sure of that... camping at a camp ground can be quite costly...
