Just been reading on the BBC website about the Austrian bloke who'd kept his daughter locked in the cellar for years.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7371043.stm
It all just sounds totally terifying, how easy it seemed to be to keep so many people in the basement and not let anyone else find out about it. You'd think someone would've seen or heard something before now that would give a clue about it.
The poor kids living down there for all that time. Not even seeing daylight.

I know. Don't really know what to think myself. So many unanswered questions. Just can't believe it really.

I dunno, I mean if a man can be found lying dead in his flat seven years after he died in a large town in the UK then I can quite believe that in a small town in Austria people might not notice that the woman was locked in a windowless, almost certainly soundproofed, cellar.

I thought it was so terrifying when I heard. Don't really want to think about it to be honest. It's too creepy.

It is creepy. Though in smaller towns people know each other more thanin cities, so you'd think someone'd catch on to something. Especially the bloke's wife. Did she not ever go into the cellar or wonder why he was going down?

it said on the news today, the police are going to question various people, as in how did he get the extra food and where from, clothes and even their social services on the "3 children left" on the doorstep, of enquiries for the other "parents" as such

I find it hard to believe that the wife didn't know anything! What did she suspect in 24 years? Honestly?
At the very least, she should be asking herself some searching questions!

A believer finding it hard to believe...ah well...
He apparently had a large family and very well built cellar. It happens a lot that people can have and support families in other towns or just across town and no one suspect a "double life". All this guy had to do was nip downstairs with some old clothes and the days leftovers.
My girlriends dad is a practicing Catholic and er mom is an agnostic. He would take the girls to church a curch two streets from where they have lived for ove 20 years. A while back a woman rom the church said to Sophie while chatting to her what a good job her Dad had done "Bringing up two daughters while being alone all these years"
What really set me pondering is what he thought was going to happen if he got killed in an accident or died suddeny?

Terrifying thought if something had happened to the bloke and his kids left locked in the basement. It's obvious that his wife never went down there. Wonder if she ever tried or thought about it.
