The second episode is much better than the first,I’m pleased it is a more adult sci fi series , but not exactly family viewing.

I rather liked it... the second episode was better than the first by far. I know there are some people, not mentioning any names, who didn't give it a chance... but more fool them.

(The following has been passed through a Spoiler Filter, only those who have watched the two episodes will be able to read it).
I though smiley - bleep was great. And when smiley - bleepsmiley - bleep did smiley - bleep. smiley - bleep seemed a bit smiley - bleep but was redeemed by doing smiley - bleep.

I’m looking forward to next weeks episode, the second episode was engaging and reminded me lightly of Species. But I recon the BBC will get a lot of complaints for creating a Dr who spin off with adult only content.

Gnomon - time to move on

Am I right in saying the Episode 1 is airing on BBC 2 on Wednesday? We don't get BBC 3, 4, 5 etc.

Yes, it's at 9pm on BBC2 on Wednesday, and it's both episodes (exactly what was shown on BBC3 last night). smiley - oksmiley - smiley

The Groob

I keep telling ewif it's on BBC2 but she's having none of it. I also keep trying to persuade her that Pertwee was better than Baker but she's not having that either.

Anyway, we watched it on 3 and ewif really liked it. I thought it was alright - wouldn't rush home to see it but wouldn't turn over in disgust either.

And the people who do complain will be idiots if they're expecting a programme that's been specifically mentioned as for adults and is shown after 9pm to be family-friendly.

I'm sure that the Sarah Jane Adventures on CBBC will fill in the plot gaps for the kiddies!

I thought it was OK. 1st one tried a bit too much scene setting for my liking and didn't pull it off that well.
2nd one was quite cool. But those helicopter/balloon shots from on high down onto cardiff must have cost them a package cos they kept using it! In fact I'd say that was my main gripe, too much atmospheric camera use, and what the shots of Capt. Jack poncing about on top of tall buildings is about I'm not overly sure but it just made me laugh at the ott clichedness of it.

On the plus side it was fairly engaging, love the fact they've kept the welsh accents in, although they could be stronger, want to know what the 'Odd bloke' from the scottish office comment meant and loved the CSI jibe (not a bad line for an extra was it?)! Oh, and the Danger Mouse pavement was class smiley - winkeye

Potential SPOILER.

Bet you anything you like the severed hand in the jar is the Doctor's.

End of SPOILER.

Liked it. Liked the Batman shots, standing on the buildings. OK, maybe a bit cliched, but you don't get that in Brit progs, so maybe not. It's not the X Files, quite, although I think it would like to be. Definitely prepared to give it a chance, based on the first two episodes, but I hope it gets better. This was not the triumphant opening pair that Doctor Who got - compare and contrast Torchwood's first two with "Rose" and "The End of the World". But like I say - I want to see more. Looking forward to finding out more about Torchwood 2 - any guesses as to who the strange man in Glasgow might turn out to be?

Still Incognitas, Still Chairthingy, Still lurking, Still invisible, unnoticeable, missable, unseen, just haunting h2g2

I reckon the second episode is a rip off of a plot from the newer Twilight Zone series.Only in that one their's was a happier ending because true love conquers all.Plus it had a much better sex scene.smiley - winkeye

Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like

I don't see how *that* revelation about the hand can be called a spoiler - more a statement of the utterly obvious, surely?

Unless they are planning an adaptation of Ray Bradbury's 'The Jar' down the line.

Liked it. Thought it had a strong enough identity of it's own to stand or fall without the parent show.

smiley - shark
