Special notice from the Editor:
My previous post gave a forum address for a discussion on the virtual softball game. To make things easier, Lance has created a page that will one day contain the rules of the game - for now it has a copy of our conversation regarding the rules. You can find the page here:
http://www.h2g2.com/A213337
Lance has a forum at the bottom of the page which you can use to give us your input. All comments are welcome!

Hello everyone. It's been a few weeks, so here is what has been happening. First off, please welcome the new Misfits:

Lance Boyles has completed the rules for the upcoming softball game, and I'd like to thank him for the job he has done so far. There still may be some minor changes, but the rules are essentially finished. Everyone is invited to take a look:
http://www.h2g2.com/a213337
There is even a sample game for you to examine, complete with nicknames! And don't forget to sign up at the yahoo h2g2 softball chatroom (where the game will probably be held):
http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/h2g2softballdiamond
Once we decide on a date for the first game, I will post it here (it will probably be sometime after the new year, assuming h2g2 is y2k compliant).
Frink's Drinks news:
The original House of Relaxation has been closed (although you can still access the page if you like). The new House of Relaxation has been opened by ShazzPR, and anyone who needs a massage is welcome to visit - just follow the link in Frink's Drinks. Also, congratulations to Bluebottle, whose H2G2 Waterworks and Beach has seen a large amount of traffic the past few weeks. Stop on by for a swim, and don't listen to any rumors about a certain Baywatch star being laid to rest in the sewer.
That's all for this week. Thanks to everyone for continuing to read the newsletter - you are all appreciated

Letter From the Editor:
Hello everyone. As this will probably be my final newsletter posting for this year, I'd like to wish everyone happy holidays! Things have been a little slow with the Misfits lately, but there are a few things to report. As always we'll start with the new Misfits. Please make them feel welcome:

There have been two rooms added to Frink's Drinks. Mike A's Mosh Pit currently features a pic of Iron Maiden, and Jimi X has opened an Observatory that includes upcoming astronomical events and a link to a virtual planetarium. Drop in and say "hi" if you get the chance.
As mentioned previously, the rules for the softball game have been completed, but the authors have developed a small disagreement regarding one portion of the scoring system. It is a minor problem that has the potential to blow the whole system to bits. In order to reach a solution, we are going to hold a vote. Every Misfit is invited to cast his/her/its vote. Please go to the voting page for details:
http://www.h2g2.com/A228359
A reminder - the rules in their current form can be found here:
http://www.h2g2.com/A213337
There is still no date for the first game, but we expect to start playing ball sometime in January.
Finally, be watching the POST newspaper during the next several weeks. There is an article about the Misfits in the works! Thanks everyone

"The Mosh Pit features a pic of Iron Maiden"?!?!?!?????
Just because I'm new(ish), doesn't mean I can't be shown a bit of dignity.......
OK, I dig. If only that picture of the mouse would work!
I've finally worked out how I can have the music on there. It's not exactly what I intended, but I'm going off to try it out soon.

Yes, I suppose I could have been a little kinder - I do appreciate everyone who makes a room at Frink's Drinks, of course. But hey, there's no such thing as bad publicity, right? So, to make it up to you, I'll mention the Mosh Pit again once you've got those tunes going.
Incidentally, let me take this opportunity to remind everyone to only post one time to this forum. Someday I'll think of a better way to do the newsletter, but for now we have to live with this long forum. Let's not make it any longer than it needs to be If you would like to discuss anything about the team, newsletter, etc., please feel free to start a new discussion on my homepage.
Thanks!

Please please PLEASE only one post per researcher! You are welcome to advertise anywhere but here - the Misfit Newsletter Classified Seciton (located in the frink's drinks lobby) is a great place to advertise, for instance. But not here!
I hope I don't have to post this message again.
Thanks.

Letter From the Editor:
Hello everyone, Happy New Year! I'm glad to see h2g2 survived the end of the world
The main point of this posting is to remind everyone about the softball rules vote. So far only a few Misfits have cast their votes, and we appreciate those who have. For everyone else, don't miss out on your chance to affect h2g2 history! Or something like that.....
The current rules for our virtual softball game can be found here:
http://www.h2g2.com/A213337
However, the rules aren't set in stone. Specifically, we are having trouble deciding on a scoring system for one part of the game. Please help us decide by voting. For details please visit the voting page:

Thanks for your help in advance

Special Edition from the Editor:
Hello everyone. I try to only post items about the softball team in the newsletter, but I can't help but bend the rules a little tonight. I wanted to invite everyone to read this week's issue of the h2g2 POST, our very own newspaper. I happen to be featured in the 1-2-1 interview, and much of the interview is Misfit-related. You can find the POST at:
http://www.h2g2.com/u54963
I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank each and every Misfit for their contributions. Without your interest, the Misfits would be nothing.
