lets see...
umm....
sip out of a cup upside down.
scare yourself
breath into a paper bag
hold your breath, plug your nose, and drink as much water as you can bare wihout breathing... so you feel kind of like you're drowning...

Slow down your breathing and think calm thoughts while your diaphragm relaxes.

Actually....hiccups are a twitch in the diaphram....the control of the diaphram is the only way of stopping it.
Hold your breath, and "wiggle" your tummy muscles (strange, I know), then keep swallowing. The swallowing action involves the diaphram. Then, when you think you're running out of breath, breathe out in a controlled and slow manner....
I know...perhaps a bit too much "straight down the line", but as a sufferer of lots of hiccups, I've managed to pretty much cure them on my own now

I have been asked for vinegar at work by nurses trying to cure hiccups, this works with Alex, it takes 2 of you tho, put your fingers in your ears, get your friend to pinch your nose and feed you a glass of water, drink as much as you can

I think how much vinegar depends on how bad the hicoughs are. The most I've ever needed is 2 tea spoons

No ones ever told me either, I just fill up a food sample container of vinegar and take it to where it's needed

I ended up using the knife and water trick-
Put a knife in a glass of water, blade down. Rest your forehead on the handle of the knife, and drink!

"As I was thinking hickups where a signal from your body, you needed something to drink.
Actually I only ever do it once, then send a relax signal to the diafragm and go for a glass of water .

I had the hiccups earlier today... I held my breath for a little while, and they went away. But by then I had woken my brother (he was sleeping in the room I was in, in fact, the same one I am in right now) but it was about 4 pm then anyway, so he probably needed to wake up.
