Finally some answers.
Ellen Started conversation Aug 26, 2009
I saw my doctor today and we discussed some of the sleep problems I've been having. She ordered a sleep study for me, so I'll be going in for an evaluation next week! Very interested in finding out whether I may have sleep apnea. Despite all the sleep I get, I am usually sleepy. So this may provide some answers.
The doctor and I also discussed my diet. I told her that four of my siblings have gluten intolerance. We decided I would try a gluten free diet for at least three months. Then we'll see how my cholesterol and weight are. My brothers and sisters have had good results on this diet, so fingers crossed that it will also help me.
I'm feeling relieved that the meeting went smoothly, and that my doctor was so supportive. Hopeful that the fatigue I've been experiencing will lessen. Between the sleep study and the diet, I feel like I'm on my way to better health.

Go for it JEllen!
At the very least, unlike invasive stuff, meds etc; it won't do any harm & may well give some insight into what is really at the rooot of the problem.

I hope the sleep study helps, JEllen.
I've often wondered about those. Do you have to go somewhere to do it or is there equipment for you to use at home?

I've known a lot of people with gluten-free diets, it's helped a couple of them, but if it's helped your siblings I'm sure it's more likely to have some benefit for you.
Hope the sleep study provides some useful answers! Good luck.

Hmm why am I just finding this now? And no, I haven't been sleeping. Certainly hope all goes well JEllen! And good to 'see' you again, if only through the revolving door of hootoo/in passing.

Oddly enough, I've been having sleepness nights. But mine are b-p mind racing. No - not ill. Yet. But I do need to keep it under control. No late-night 'puter. Take sleeping pills when I need them.

Hi, JEllenJ42: I thought you had disappeared. I just linked that numbers page, where you stepped on my posting right at the end, to the supernatural thread I recently started. It shouldn't affect you, but I thought you might want to know. How's the art going? (I got here by wondering what Edward was interested in at the moment, by the way. It's another little coincidence that I ran across you--after such a spell--just when you came up in what I was doing.)

Oh, and good luck with your health issues (seeing as how that's what this thread is about).

Hi Ed, I don't really know whether the wheat free diet is helping much. Very hard to tell. But I'm eating well, and not having much of a problem staying on it. i told my doctor I'd stay on it three months. Then we'll check my cholesterol.
As for my sleep cycle, it's still very challenging. Maybe some answers soon.
