to Jim Lynn for getting into the office at 6am this morning to upgrade the servers - he's now recovering, and h2g2 is a lot zippier than before. Now we're going to concentrate on finishing off the next site release (scheduled for release early in the New Year), so watch this space!

Fast is not the word! I've had to stop opening lots of windows cos they go quicker than me now.

I need to thank Paul Brown from BBC Internet Services for getting up at the crack of dawn to do all the work. Part of the reason for doing this upgrade is to allow IS to take over the day to day maintenance of the servers, so Paul did all the work in getting the new servers ready and doing the switch - I was there for moral support and to do a quick acceptance check (I spotted the missing smileys at about the same time you did) but apart from that I didn't have much to do.
I'd send you to his page but he doesn't have one.
