If the attackers were solely interested in killing only Americans, they picked a bad target. The World Trade Center was called just that because it hosted world trade and international companies, and I'm reminded of this as I have watched scrolling counts of victims from other countries. There are Australians, Japanese, South Koreans, and Britons listed so far, but I am sure that we will see more embassies reporting their own missing as time goes on. It's just one another shock in this sequence of horrors.

I have also seen a report now of a man from Ireland who escaped from the WTC but whose wife and child were on one of the planes. My heart goes out to all the families worldwide whom have been devastated by this.

I ju0st 3336 discovered that my bosses were supposed to have been on the NJ to SF plane. The missed it because one of them overslept.
I've also heard about the international victims. I wanted to express my deepest sorrow and sympathy to everyone around the world who lost loved ones in this tragedy.

Another individual who narrowly missed death - I see the BBC reported that Ian Thorpe, the gold medal winning Australian swimmer was planning to go to the top of the WTC on Tuesday - apparently he'd gone back to his hotel to get his camera.

It was a great view, and thinking about being up there myself a few weeks back is leaving me choked up again (an all-too common occurrence in these times of woe).
