Now we are (rapidly approaching) five...

It may have escaped your attention that we are now just eight short weeks away from the fifth anniversary of the first ever ScotMeet - A416800 for those of you who weren't there (or were there but can't remember).
This suggests a couple of questions:
(a) Why don't we have a meet on the first weekend in August to celebrate the anniversary?
...and...
(b) Whatever happened to erstwhile researchers from that era such as Spiny and Underground Caroline? Is anyone still in touch with them, and could they be persuaded to come along for old times' sake?
Now we are (rapidly approaching) five...
Demon Drawer Posted Jun 10, 2005
(a) Why not indeed?
(b) No idea.

Demon Drawer Posted Jun 10, 2005
Actually there are three questions in question 2
2a No idea
2b No
2c No idea

*scribbles notes*
Actually 2b should be "No idea" too, unless you're sure that nobody is still in touch with anyone who hasn't been online for a while...

I think it would be very irresponsible of EV to try and wreck Edinburgh just as the poor citizens are recovering from July.
Count me in

I'll definitely try to make it for a 5th anniversary meet in recognition of the first ever ScotMeet.

If we have it at my house, Jamie might get his watch back.

Alright, I've got a suggestion...
You may remember there was a weekend-long meet at Butlins in the thriving metropolis of Bognor Regis last May. fords and I were there and we said we should do something similar with the SRG. So who'd be up for some fun, frivolity and... other words beginning with "f" at Haggerston Castle, just outside Berwick Upon Tweed, on the first weekend in August?

If, for example, there were eight people going, we could hire a luxury caravan for three nights for something in the region of £50 each. Wumbie, of course, could sleep on a bench in Berwick station. Any thoughts?

Can't afford that. Sorry.

Can't afford the £50 for a stay at the thingy you suggested.
It's either paying for the lodging or paying for drink...

Definition of "No brainer", according to Collin's dictionary
"It's either paying for the lodging or paying for drink..."

OK let's settle for buying the drink and work on a cunning plan to steal the lodgings

Ho yus! I'd be driving, so I'd happily give a lift to anyone who wanted to clean out the beer, wines and spirits department of the Berwick branch of Morrisons.

50 quid is about 5 days incapacity benefit for me so I can't justify spending it - much as I would want to - on a booze up.
