Now sticking with my big-cat theme of late;
Has a Christian ever been persecuted and fed to a lion?
There are klaxons, naturally.
NO Googling or wikipedia.
Be bold; preferably interesting; never obvious.

No - the lions in the Roman arenas weren't as fearsome as their reputation would have. They were usually overfed and rather docile through interaction with their handlers.
Their human opponents on the other hand were desperate and in the fights between humans and lions, the humans would often win.
Romans got wise to this and, wanting entertainment, tended to put humans against each other and lions against other animals.

Now I'm not one to pick anyone apart for the slightest typo, but the phrase "A lion's docility, expect when provoked" could lead to some messy misunderstandings.
I've a couple of ideas on this one, but I'm not coming down from the fence until I think a bit more about it.

I have a dyslexic keyboard.
Glad to know this one has it's attendants and it's not all totally serene and silent.
See how many brave souls there are in the morning....

i read somewhere that the christians were so intent on turning the other cheek that they just stood there and did nothing to antagonize the lions so in the end they were hung about with raw meat and daubed with blood to try to get the lions to attack

I meant - sorry - who was doing the hanging?

Taff Agent of kaos Posted Jul 30, 2009
the romans hung meat on the christians to encourage the lions to attack
when the lions pull off the meat the christians would panick and that would be enough to antagonize the lion into further violence

Iago got walloped for saying "No."
I figured someone else would come along with our Imperial friends soon enough and I was right.
Apt time for a clue, methinks...
I'll set this clue as a question.
How long ago do you think this was? Should help narrow down who might be involved.

"I Clavdivs?" as one S.Fry once put it.
We are making progress - more recent than the Victorians.
