...providing a portal into an indefinite number of alternate universes in case there's a need for reinforcements or re-supply (for example in the height of a battle)...

If you want to be sure that no one gets through, you can always place a sheet of plexiglass against it and pile bricks behind the plexiglass.

Technique is similar to that for confining a time-traveling demon in a dungeon. One fills the cell with bricks packed solid a distance in time greater than the demon can jump before its incarceration, and after the term of its confinement, bricks it up again to a like depth in time.

...or, alternatively, post a guard around it, ready to lob stun grenades through if a boarding party tries to get aboard by means of it...smiley - pirate...can be handy if one runs short of limes for the margaritas while out at sea, or needs more ammo on short order, etc. ... ...and provide a hell of a shock for anyone who thinks their up against just one ship...

...I guess it all depends on whether one can form a good working relationship with oneself. Some people can, others cannot...

On the other hand, now that I think on it, with respect to some of my cognates, while with one, I'd drop everything and come running if called upon, with another of them... ...must give us pause... we're dangerously evenly matched and that is an issue...

On Kes' post 11, "...an evil twin, with..."

More seriously, I'm reminded of a moment in time I'd been having a rather bad time of it. Going to the mirror one morning to shave I caught a glimpse of the unguarded expression on my face. I turned pale visibly in the mirror as I watched at the sight. My jaw dropped, I gasped. I felt a moment of horror as to what other people might think if they saw me with an expression like that on face.

I have just been to check my face in a few other mirrors.
It's the same picture on all channels. I conclude it must be a party political broadcast.

Philosophy on mirrors, '___qua' (as such). Once I purchased some quality 1/4 wave flat optical mirrors designed for use in reflector telescopes, mirrored on the objective side. The image was so excellent, (even though they were rather small, post card dimensions, 1 inch on the small side), showing every pore and every slightest skin imperfection, I was quite horrified by what I saw.

A movie star friend of mine, though (my number one woman friend of the time), on the other hand was enthralled....

A 'forgiving' mirror is one of rather poor optical quality mirrored on the back (usually with a protective coating of paint over the reflective coating), made with poorly annealed glass with convective distortions in it 'softening' the image. ...a point to be remembered if one is running a salon....
