Be afraid, carrots, be very afraid!
Today I decided to pull up some of the carrots that I planted in front of my house this Spring. I did it with some trepidation, because I planted the seeds too thickly and never watered the poor things. I didn't expect to find much when I pulled them up, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that some of them were pretty big.
I washed and trimmed them, used the carrot parer where necessary, and then made carrot bread with them. Hey, this is fun!

I gave them plenty of soil. In April, a new sewage outflow pipe was installed under my trailer, and it entered the ground in front of the place. I preferred not to have it all that visible, so I filled in the area with gardening soil and planted the carrots there. The foliage was thick enough to camouflage the sewer pipe.
