My newly-sprouted bean-plants look like little green bats unfolding their wings.

Every year I buy some superbells, which are small flowers that resemble petunias. The next year, seeds from the previous summer sprout, so I have a second season of superbells at no extra cost. A funny thing happened this year, though. Seeds from the Johnny jump ups in the next planter blew over and sprouted in a superbells planter. Either that, or cross-pollination produced some weird effects. smiley - weird

I signed up for home delivery of The Boston Globe" newspaper. For some reason my Saturday paper didn't come up on Saturday. But today [Sunday], there was Saturday's paper on my porch. smiley - huh

We've had a three-day heat wave. The pansies are holding on for dear life. They don't like summer heat, but I'm keeping them watered. The last time I had pansies, I neglected watering them for a few days, and they died. Kind of fraigle, I think. smiley - sadface

You can call me TC

Fraigle?

Did it look as though someone had read the paper?

If you've been following my journals, you'll see that we are having the absolute opposite of a heatwave. Flood warnings abound and the military are ready with their waders.

We had a drought in May. We could have used some of your rain.

The heat wave is over for the time being. Now I'm getting rain. This is good, as it means I won;t have to water my plants tonight. smiley - smiley

We had perfect weather for tearing down my old shed, which is pretty big but needs a new roof and front. Tomorrow is Father's Day here and I expect my three kids to come and lend a hand smiley - ok

GM seeds? As in General Motors? The blossoms don't look like Buicks or Chevrolets.

I am starting to grow indoor herbs, and I had to wait until it got warm enough. It is still not warm enough to grow my green onions and mushrooms.

There's a 90% chance of rain tomorrow, with lower temperatures. smiley - smiley

That's great to hear that you will soon be getting rain. Playing a game of cricket is said to make it rain or having any other type of outdoor event.

You folks are so odd, expecting rain in summer. Summer is the season when it gets very hot and very dry for a few months and everything outside turns crisp and yellow. smiley - silly

So far as I'm aware, nothing else will that particular milkweed.smiley - smiley

One of my coneflowers has started blooming. The rest are gearing up for the blooming season.

The coreopsis on the left side of my house has four or five blooms. The Creme Brule coreopsis on the right side has a lot of promising buds, but none has gotten quite big enough to bloom yet. The black-eyed Susans have healthy leaves, but no sign of buds yet.
