A Conversation for The Myth Of 42 [(5-3+0+5) * (6+0) = 42]

another impossible number?

If the universe is infinite, then im "a" center, 21+4^1+8+9=42

i havnt put much thought into this, but it looks quite impossible:

Jeremy (trying to find his way back to dinner)

One common trick is to include the leading zeros and to start to play with 000284 instead of 284. That makes it quite easy:

0!*0!*0!/2*84 = 42

AK - fancy that!

Or (0!/(0!+0!)+2+8)*4=42!

Thanks.

Argon0 (50 and feeling it - back for a bit)

(0!/(0!+0!)+2+8)*4=42!
42 Factorial... Blimey what a large number....

smiley - cool AK BTW...

I guess this means we've got to make room at the DoQuaDecahedric table for the H2G2 Editors then...

Welcome James - to the Order of the Knights of the DoQuaDecahedric table...smiley - ok

Well I didn't mean 42 factorial... that was an exclamation point, I think you knew that...

Its roughy 1.405006118*10^51 according to my calculator

rooftiler - back again, for another bit at least

I still think long division should be allowed (even though Argon0 says otherwise)

So 284 becomes:

___
2)84 (2 'into' 84)

You don't even need the horizontal line, IMHO

(ok, not so very H but definitely IMO!!!)

An elegant solution?

Argon0 (50 and feeling it - back for a bit)

Argon0 (50 and feeling it - back for a bit)

Also not really in the spirit as it adds another significant digit.

(zeros ahead of a number are insignificant)...

So you could have

U0284= (0!/2)x84
