Uncle H, could you consider at least hanging on another week or so until the petition is put into play? That's our best hope of at least getting a direct written response from someone representing the BBC, as opposed to the italics...

No hard feelings, Uncle Heavy? I sort of wondered why you would want to belong to this group after the anti-Zaphodista column you wrote for The Post a while back. Still you did make a major contribution to the movement by giving us the rallying cry:

"moderation is the chains on the opiate of the means of production. or something."

Peet, The petition isn't supposed to be "for members only," so Uncle Heavy does not need to remain a member of this group until after the petition. I hope we'll be able to attract a lot of h2g2 researchers who are not Zaphodistas, especially when they see that we've been in contact with Peta about the petition, that we plan to send it through channels she has requested (avoiding email, using paper copies of the petition or asking people to "sign" via message forum). The h2g2 staff seems to see the petition as a constructive effort for requesting change from the BBC, at least a better activity to occupy our time than adding complaints to Moderation Help Desk or Community Soapbox or elsewhere.

I realise that, Subcom, but when it crosses the path of the BBC a long list of people who felt moved to be a member of the movement can only add weight. As you said, anyone can sign a petition...

True. Oh well. Take heart that one dropped out and meanwhile two joined.

its not that i dont think what your doing is valuable, its that i dont think it will work, and that i think some of the tactics used by some poeple were a little OTT. I would be happy if the petition worked, however, and i will checkit out. and im glad you liked my rallying cry. hehe

granted, its annoying, but I feel people have to worked with each other rather than against. see it from the beebs perspective. or at least try to. i wont go away, tho.
