Did you know that Trebor is Robert backwards btw? The company was named after... I can't remember for sure if it was the owner's name or his son's. Are Trebor-Sharps still around, or have they been swallowed up by some big ole confectionary conglomerate? Anyone know? Anyone care? Anyone for a Sharps Extra Strong Mint?

It's sad, but I happen to know, Gosho.
Trebor have been merged with Bassetts for some years, but just recently have become a subsidiary of a very well known confectionary giant. The new firm is called Cadbury Trebor Bassett, and also includes the Bournville company's other non-chocolate sweet brands, e.g. Cadbury's Eclairs, Pascall Fruits etc.

I remember that disgusting playground ditty Gosho, and the advert Those xtra strong mints are pathitic now btw, Sharps, used to *burn* it was like sucking a battery! If you crunhhed 'em up and tried to swallow it quickly you'd have gut ache all day! Only the English could invent a sweet that was so manifestly revolting, and clearly designed as some kind of oral punishment for naughty kids!
