Umm... Yes and no.

If you're asking whether this forum is chat-like, then yes, but if you're asking whether that's all h2g2's about then absolutely no!

While most of the fora (forums?) is used for chatting to fellow researchers about virtually everything, that's not the sole purpose of the Guide. The purpose is to gather thorough entries about Life, the Universe, and Everything. I think there's a page somewhere to explain it, hold on a sec.
