Strangely enough I knew someone who used to wee into his pint glass at rock gigs- to trap those who knicked people's pints. Avoid that man!!+ his Pint glasses.
How are you all newbies?? Is it me- or does it smell of fish in here?
*It's just you!- everyone shouts back*-

Did someone mention fish? Are there any chips with it?

Potato wedgies are prolly the closest you've come to what he was asking for. smiley - winkeye

He did say chips, I don't think he meant 'crisps' smiley - winkeye

No offence taken.....we folks from the US understand our definition of "chips" as well as yours!smiley - winkeye

I s'pose it's all down to the context (or something). I mean, if I just said "Could I have some chips", and you didn't know where I was from, what would you *assume* I meant? smiley - smiley

I would see a large plastic bag, with very nasty, slim pieces of well greased potato slices.

But we have a "Captain D's". So we have some slight understanding of what "Fish and Chips" are.

Last I checked, we in the US are well adept at assuming other cultures. Considering we hail, originaly, from the UK......that's not a difficult one to cover!smiley - winkeye

I'm not debating the fish and chips thing, I'm just interested in chips alone. But it's kinda weird the way loads of words have developed to mean several (often completely different) things smiley - smiley

And some of those differences can prove slightly embarassing (and rather amusing, as well smiley - winkeye).

I think there're already some up (though I forget where). Jimi (I think) and Peta (or was it Yoz or Jim?) were talking about it a long time ago. smiley - winkeye

HHmmm..... Same words, different meaning.....Australian, Canadian, US, Britian, Irish, Scottish, New Zealand, South African english...etc..

You know...a comparitive article among them all could be quite interesting. If I'm not mistaken, earlier articles are more on the line of one colonys' word compared to the mother countrys'. How do they compare to each other, or among each other?

I have heard a few we use in the US that we should take care in using across the border in Canada(I don't recall what they were at the moment). I know there have to be quite a few regional translations that could be good reading!(if they are printable!smiley - winkeye)

Does shooting crap ever confuse anyone?
Also- would you have chips while doing it?- is it a card game?
Do americans use the toilet or the bathroom?
You are definately on to something here- I just hope it's hygenic.

Big kiss
