h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I can't make an entry in "My Journal". All the other pages are ok but that one comes up mainly white with just a few of the usual headers.
I've gone round the "Help"() pages 'til I'm dizzy. Why isn't there a page that just says " Ask your question here and we'll get back to you"?
I know I aren't the brightest bod around but I can't see what I'm doing wrong.
How about a page of "Rarely"AQ.

I'd suggest you go here: A868098. Ask a question, like others have done at the bottom of the page and then wait for someone knowledgeable to come along!

You have registered on the Radio2 messageboard (and later signed in to HooToo). In this way your Personal Space is part of the Radio 2 messageboards and they do not have Journals.

Not really much to worry, nothing wrong with you or the system, it is supposed to w**k this way .

We have many multi site members, some even prefer to stay message board members as that gives a little more privacy . "

Hello to Traveller in Time.
Ok, I think I understand. Because I logged onto the R2 site first and used the same ID on HooToo I'm basically stuck on R2 which doesn't have a personal journal page.
Would a solution be to not use this ID and create a new one specific to HooToo? The only thing wrong with that would be a dead ID cluttering up HooToo and R2. I would mark the ID as dead but it could still sidetrack people. Or, is there someone/where that could sort it all out?
If I'm going to stay on this site I feel I should extend the same courtesy to other people as they do to me so a journal is a must.

As well as half the information given is slightly inaccurate or even completely wrong.

--You can _not_ use the same login-name to create a new account !

--The login-name is the name you use to Register and to Sign-in to the account after you have registered.

--Members of messageboards can Sign-In to HooToo (this is what you only have to do once as in 'Single Sign On')

--I have Singed-In to most of the message boards and can leave messages on their Personal Message Center. Some smart ACE replies after that 'They are from one of the message boards . . . '

--I try to ask explicitly if they want to move their account, but as you ACEs try to confuse the newbee to create a new account I get into overdrive.

You need to talk to the Tower about using links to move people across, it is preferred that we not use it.

I thought it was possible to transfer an account from one DNA site/community to another without cancelling anything or starting an entirely new account...

For some reason, it won't allow ACE's in to welcome them..

I think it's best to just advise DickyB to email [email protected] and ask them about transferring his account.

And you *can* post email addresses in conversations without fear of spammers getting hold of the addresses. It was all explained to me once by a Guru - conversations aren't web pages that can be read by spambots - they only exist in the h2g2 database until called up by one of us reading the thread

However if a newbee wants to become a Researcher they can be transferred by the link, or by the /Italics/.

I can not imagine the /Italics/ to suggest not to use the link but to let them create another Account instead.

I ask explicitly for them to be transferred before I give the link. If, as in the other case the italics are already emailed, no problem, we will have to wait. But I strongly disagree with suggesting to create a new account, and or giving bad links to the SSO bar trying to persuade them to create this new account. "

Then perhaps we need to get further advice from the tower about it...

I reckon the Italics should write a page detailing exactly what newbies coming from other DNA areas should do. We're confused, the newbies are confused, and the current vagueness just leads to confusion!
