A Conversation for Goth - a Lifestyle Choice

That was an eye opener. I had no idea! I thought goth kids were:
1) few and far between, and
2) liked to have their eye brow pierced.
I didn't know that the goth scene was so involved. It seems to cover every aspect of life.
What I find most interesting is your paragraph on Goth Wannabes. It is what you call Wannabes that I thought Goth was. Sort of a fashion statement, and not a lifestyle.

A satisfied customer, how nice
Tube, it will be interesting to see what sort of illustration (if any) the h2g2 art department comes up with.

Checked off a few things I am, have, feel, listen to and do that are Goth. It can't be my religion but its a part of me I realize now, I have a history of Goth orientation in my life. & I never Wanted to Be. I'll just check on over to the hyperlink and see if I should persue my new found identity. I hope you don't mind if I confess, I trided to talk a 15 or so girl out of dying her hair pearl black, I explained that she had blond eye-brows. But I did give her the inside on the best vegetable dye Chinese hair dye, inexpensive, and it stays with you untill you cut it off. So, I guess I respected where she was coming from and if she wanted to go there showed her the way. Loved it! Three snaps with sashaying fingertips! Goth Rules!

goth kids... when you said this, you probably meant goths, but there are second-generation goths, now. I saw one at an art fair, with her goth mom... cute little 5 yr old girl, all in black, with a little black coffin shaped purse with a skeleton on it... you just *know* this child will turn into a yuppie in about 12 years, to rebel against her goth parents...!

2nd generation Goth kids:
A difficult subject, I think. In one side I consider the goth attitude to life preferable over "MTV-and-media-hype"-induced attitudes. On the other hand, making you kid walk around in goth gear will probably make it an outsider.
AFAIK ther are Goth-partents newsgroups out there which discuss these subjects. And the Goth partents I know have their kids dressed in the mundane way.
