This is my first Guide Entry. I am fairly inexperienced on h2g2, so it probably needs a lot of work!

Welcome to HooToo, Cafzal. How long have you been a researcher?

Anyway, I looked over your entry, and it looks like... a beginning. A very nice beginning, but really only that. I bet you could add a few more paragraphs elaborating on the details of some of the issues you mention, maybe even bringing examples.
smiley - ok
Your writing style is good, though, so go for the Guide!

Oh, and one last thing: do remove that unsightly message from your pers0nal space by sticking in an intro. There's an 'edit this page' or something like that button on the right of your ps.

I have always liked to write and research. I write stuff on Wikipedia too, but this seems more creative! smiley - winkeye

I will add more to the article, including some examples.

Hmm. Odd, for some reason it wont let me post to your personal space.
So I'll do my chatting here.

May I offer you some smiley - tea and smiley - cake?

Comfortable? Good, cuz I'll be blabbing for a while.

*clears throat*
Greetings, fellow earthling. Welcome to H2G2, the unofficial guide to life, the universe, and everything.
'Round here they call me Leo. Dont tell, but I'm a girl.

Have you read the book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams? If not, allow me to point you toward the library. It will help you get into the swing of things.

Probably you've taken the official tour (dontpanic-tour (did that work? if not, this will: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/dontpanic-tour)) from the front page, but I'll repeat all the important bits:

Purpose being: create the guide to life, the universe, blah blah. In between doing our writing and researching we also socialize, and I confess, smiley - blush we sometimes get silly. (A9587406)

There are clubs and stuff for people who want to chill a bit, and you can find the not-so-comprehensive list over here: A660340

For something to get into the guide it needs to be submitted to Peer Review, RF1 , be picked by a Scout, edited by a sub-editor (like me! smiley - boing) and then polished by the editor, before it finally hits the front page, (which is what you see when you first arrive.)

Also on the FP is the Underguide and The Post smiley - thepost.

The Underguide is for humorous, opinionated, or narrative-type writing that wouldn't make the guide, but is good read anyway. They go through the Alternative Writing Workshop, which is located- ah, hang on- smiley - run
*screeches back in: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/Writing-Alternative)

(It's rather hard to find all these places, because there isn't a site map that I know of, so it pays to bookmark all these places in your PS, or else subscribe to them, by clicking "Let me know about conversations here" on the bottom of the page.) smiley - ok

sooo... where was I? Yes. The Post. Located on the Front Page, or over here: thepost
the editors that I know of are echomikeromeo and skankyranch, but there may be more, so the best way to contact them is through the Post Box.

The Smiley library is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/Smiley
the picture libary is here:
A692741
The Guide ML workshop is here:
A1123354

You can use smileys in conversations, and pictures and guide ML in your personal space, and guide ml in your entries. In fact, the first thing you should do is learn guideML. It aint hard. Like HTML gone simple.

In your personal space, on the right side, is a button labelled "Edit Page". Use it, please smiley - grovel to tell us something about yourself, (click on my nametag to see my space,) and link to everything that interests you here.

And I think that's enough for now. There's lots more to say, but this is not the place, and by now your eyes are probably crossed smiley - online2long.

smiley - cheers
smiley - biggrin
smiley - ok

Any questions?

Odd. Do you think it has to do the with the profanity filter? People have been having trouble since they put up all those new BBC tools.

Also, a lot of newbies have been posting here without welcomes from ACEs. smiley - erm Isn't that, like, standard? You know, you join, ACE drops by first thing, you ask a few questions, get on with life...?

This is an interesting entry and I think it will read even better if it is fleshed out by one or two concrete facts. For example- what are your definitions of 'young' and 'hasty'? You have said that many failed marriages are 'probably' young and hasty- is their any statistical evidence to back up this claim? It is a very thoughtful piece all round and expanding it with a few facts will, I would think, take it much closer to being a valuable guide entry.

That would probably make a good intro, actually. Describe a young and hasty marriage with a fictional example, perhaps.
