Lord of the Rings isn't confusing, it just stops half way through for a wee lie down and never restarted. As to Dune, the powers that be would seem to want me to not watch it, as I only ever see bits. Patrick Stewart is dead good in it though. But then, I've also never read the book, having got bored a couple of chapters in

The 'new' made-for-TV, six-hour Dune made me feel like I'd never seen the Patrick Stewart/Sting one - or rather, slept through it. I had no idea there was so much more to the story. It was actually quite ..interesting. Not compelling, not worth seeing again, but ..interesting.
The book is right over here between "Dundee's Crocodiles" and "Dunfarthing's History of Euro Coinage and Currencies".
Oi, wha'sis "Dunces - a madcap collection - illustrated".

It didn't confuse me <BB< - I was just wondering what had happened to the plot. You see, I'd read the whole series at least twice before seeing the film....
Lord of the Rings really upset us. We were young to mid teens who loved the books and the film was so bad it left us feeling cheated and gave our American cousins (who watched it with us) completely the wrong idea. Among other misconceptions they thought hobbits were cute bunny-type animals

It's hay fever unfortunately.
I thought the film versions of both Lord of the Rings and Dune would have been very confusing to anyone that hadn't read the books and they were rather disappointing for anyone that had.
But there again most film versions of books are disappointing. They can't possibly match the pictures conjured up by your imagination can they?

*Now that everyone has settled down again the Munchkin coughs loudly and produces a set of small cards from his grubby pocket and hands them round. They read;
"You are cordially invited to a small, yet perfectly formed celebration this Tuesday (10th July) in the Snug. Here Munchkin will return in triumph from his graduation to be smug and wave his certificate about in an annoying manner. An arrangement has been made with the local "home brewer" and the special, non-blinding, stuff should be available. Hope to see you there."
Key: Complain about this post

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
