I find it so hard to get my head around the fact that no one else understands how nasty that feeling is just before the jump into hyperspace is!

Hello researcher and welcome to h2g2,
Firstly what you need to do is activate your personal space (that’s your ‘homepage’) and you can do this by using the 'edit page' button on the rhs of the page or by clicking on this shortcut >> <./>UserEdit?masthead=1</.>. Just type anything – even just hello to start off will do, and click update. Once that is done a friendly ACE, like myself will drop by your page and leave a welcome message with some tips and hints to get you started!
Personally I get sick at the thought of just getting on a bus!

the universe is a fgrat big hole that expands with us and others alike to fill it.
think of ot like this -- the whole hole is but a gap in life and a centr piece of death...

It depends on how you see the universe, if you 'belive' in religion or secience. If you believe in religion then anything is possible as long as God(s) says you can. But if science is your thing, then well there are rules you have to follow and nothing is impossible as long it follows the rules of physics.
And in answer to your question- sadly NEITHER- we do what we believe we can nothing more nothing else.

"An optimist is someone who knows how awful the universe is. A pessimist is someone who wakes up every day and rediscovers it."

A pessimist is someone who's mind boggles at how many football fields it would take to fill the universe.
An optimist is someone who is joyous at the thought of all those games being played at once!

So why do you need a right shoe and a left shoe, if you believe in shoe as a singular concept?

So if you fish for fish, will you have a fish or some fish?
If you go fish and you catch no fish, will you still have fished or will you have unfished?

The optimist believes that the world is a good and happy place... the pessimist fears this is true

You can believe in religion AND science. It just means you don't believe science has ALL the right answers, but religion has, even if written a very long time ago and a bit cryptic!
Religion never says science is wrong, but scientists says religion must be for various reasons (evolution instead of Jehova creating man for example). But let's view it from the opinion that God created evolution. Genesis says that all things were made out of the earth, which scientists would have to agree with. Primeordial soup etc! It all depends how you rationalise both to fit them together.

if (somebody above me) is right that time is dependent on space and didn't exist before the "big bang" then we'll all(or our descendants if the human race survives that far, unless of course we are cleared out to build a hyperspace highway, which by its own definition is pointless) will all start going backwards until we turn really small again, and it'll all repeat itself, reinforcing the pessimistic idea that it's all pointless anyway and if we screw up we'll try again next time 'round. but we won't, it'll be exactly the same and we'll screw up in exactly the same way until we accumulate enough bad karma to turn the universe into a black hole one of these times
