What was before the big bang ?
Starman - Keeper of Songs Posted May 1, 2005
The Electric Monk was hiding behind the bang as it went off. But it just caused his horse to wibble slightly, and then found it's centre.

I beleive the Electric Monk was down the pub, enjoying a ploughmans lunch, just before the big bang. But seriously - what does it matter - look forward, not backwards.

Maybe what I'm trying to say is that I move forward by using my brain, and I do that by thinking of things that interest me. But i know what you mean.

There was no Big Bang! The Universe was sneezed out by the Great Green Arclethingy!

Surely there was nothing before it, cos time was created with space in the big bang. There was no time in which to have a "before".

"I've surveyed the galaxies whirling in flocks,
I've lived through all seasons, aeons and epochs.
I watched the Big Bang from a seat in the Void -
And I don't mind explaining - that got me annoyed!"

What was before the big bang ?

Before the big bang.. well, what it was, who it was, we'll probably never know but it seems that before the big bang a loud voice said mystic words... the equivalent of "Oh sh|t!"
What was before the big bang ?
Green12 Posted Sep 2, 2005
Right, time is a function of moving/changing, moving depends on space and space is caused by gravity and gravity was build within the big bang.
The word "before" does not exist *before* cause there is no ...

I would argue with that theory because more people are being robbed and raped today due to most people not being alert or aware of their surroundings.
Todays laws demand we wear seat belts when travelling in our cars.
History has proved they work.
I ponder when we will have a new law demanding we wear a head band supporting two huge wing mirrors so we can see who is creeping up behind us.
Or perhaps some Joker will invent a wee metal match box that we strap round our waist so it cannot be forgotten or left at home and we wear spectacles that will give us normal vision but as soon as someone hiding in the bushes or even behind brick work or rocks a hundred yards away is located by a wee signal that denotes where he is.
Wearing things in the ear is a no no! because the ear is a sound detector and should be left to do it's job and not impaired by things blocking the sounds of nature etc.
Too many people have been attacked while listening to music from ear peices stuck in their lug.
I wonder if the day will come when we will all have a tiny device that will put a stop to every one being attacked.
Fot instance, the money spent on funerals of victims would have been better spent if the victim had been wearing a device that signals to their recorder back at home where he or she is at any given time since a tiny camera will be transmitting signals that will be picked up back home and recoeded on a plastic disk.
Anyone approacing the tiny camera will automatically be put to disc
back home and the Police will no longer be guessing.
Some would say this is far fetched, but when the next victim goes missing, who will it be ?
Money cannot replace a life lost. Think on it. :0)

If this device ever does surface it will make the crims think twice before striking. Think well on that also.
Watch a few Jungle Films and notice that even the mighty Loin attacks from behind and runs when the horns are poking at him.

Its a tough one, because in a similar way to religion, it requires faith as no one will know for sure.
For my part I go along these lines.
For the big bang to happen, there must have been something to put gravity into reverse for just one brief moment. I look at gravity in a similar way to an acceleration, so to make a negative acceleration, one of the components of increase in miles per hour must be a negative number. So either you have negative space or negative time. I'm in favour the negative time theory, as it fits in with my (probably wrong and misguided) theory of the nature of the past and future of the universe. If you imagine a big piece of rubber stretched out over a frame being a representation of our universe in spacetime stretching in one direction until it can't go any more and goes into reverse, as soon as it does that, time also goes into reverse and creates negative gravity and therefore a "big bang"
All the intelligent people will probably come up with reasons why I am wide off the mark, but at least it promotes the discussion.
Over to you now...
