'bout the stupid political opinion rant. I must have been channeling Berkeley again . it's just the point I wanted to make is, on some issues the arguments on both sides are pretty good, and everything is so entrenched that maybe there isn't any absolute right or wrong answer. I am not saying this to be bitter either.

You're telling me?!
I just took for granted that "hi-fi" might've been a more USA-centric expression and you mightn't have heard it before. A lot of the young'uns haven't, apparently...
Plus now you and Edward have inspired me to re-read the Unabomber's manifesto. So thanks for that!

I'm dissapointed on how politicians and others try to get media focus attention by "discussing" controversial issues, but somehow usually have only two positions they'll adopt: Either the "the other side's idea is really stupid!" approach, or the "yeah yeah, me too!" approach. Maybe it's a good thing that the TV is broken.

politics always leaves me in knots.
I want the good guys...but there's usually something wrong with em...can't have it all right I suppose..but still...argggh...it's annoying.
I suppose you can't please all of the people all of the time either.

yes, Can't please everyone @ once, and yet... it is very well possible to displease everyone @ once. Hmm... ironic in a way.

Yes, it was the one w/ the classic Warhol Banana "Peel" on the cover. . I wonder where to find a record player though, Ours has been broken since I was little and grandma refuses to share hers. . i wonder if it'd be too difficult to make one...

Tell me about it! My turntable is in the attic, and for reasons to complex to explain, my vinyl collection is currently on and around the front passenger seat of my car!

You have a slightly more interesting organizational system than I do!
We have a working turntable, but the needle's worn. So until I can figure out what kind it needs and have the owner of the record store we frequent order one up, I can't play vinyl, either.

You should see the way I strew my Cds all over! I call it the Serendipity Filing System. I can never find a particular album, so I just play whatever's to hand.

Yeah, you'd mentioned that briefly when I'd said that mine are filed alphabetically by artist, then chronologically by album. Various artists and compilations filed separately, of course, but arranged the same way.
Serendipitous listening can be as interesting, I'm sure, as going through in alphabetical/chronological order like I've been. At least you get an interesting mix.
I'm listening, at the moment, to a box set I finally got a couple months ago, Rhino's "No Thanks! The '70s Punk Rebellion". Between the two of us, of the 100+ songs included, we have all but one already... but the box sets mix them up nicely. And I got it for $40 instead of $70, so it was a good deal.

Kinda. I used to copy stuff onto the PC, shuffle the playlist around, then burn it to CD-R. (I haven't found the time to do that in ages and must get some of this newer stuff, and K's stuff, onto the PC and get cracking!) Once I'd shuffled it, I'd drag and drop titles to get the different genres and subgenres mixed up nicely... then when the CD burned, it would automatically play them back alphabetically anyway.

I have to ask the complex reasons of why your vinyl is in your car? Can't be good for it right? Buckles and meltings...and if your car is anything like mine...all kindsa inclement weather happening - on the inside..what with condensation, rain and flying juice and spaghetti from the rear seat...oh and passenger feet..
I sold all my vinyl before I moved here.
I keep all my cd's in an old antique hard leather suitcase under the desk in the bedroom

My vinyl's in my car because I moved it from my father-in-law's loft because he moved into an old-folks home. Then I had my hand operation and was too sore to move it into my loft. I'm better now - but I've been too lazy.
It wasn't really worth explaining, was it?
