About that Tyrian purple made from mollusk shells......Notice how many people have trouble with blue and purple ifferentiation? It's distictly possible that it was moer of a blue colour. However, we can't know because that particular mollusk is extinct. The dye was also used for tallit (Jewish prayer shawls). Ask you nearest rabbi for more details.
