Celebrating a little milestone
Milla, h2g2 Operations Started conversation Oct 13, 2007
Children are spending the night at their Dad's and girlfriend's. First time.
His parents are in town too, meeting the little ones for the first time since split up.
I treated myself to some tapas and a lovely glass of shiraz at a restaurant, and just as I had ordered realised that my favourite restaurant is in fact another one...
So I went there for Crema Catalan and a little Amaretto. The proprietess remembered me, and her son (8 years) served me very well!
Very very nice.
I just hope the children sleep well.

That sounds lovely, Milla. Did you enjoy your evening and the time for yourself?....Or are you fretting and worrying about your children?..

Are the children staying at their Dad's overnight, Milla? If so, you can soak in a nice bath and relieve your tipsiness and sleep soundly...Take Care and relax and you will sleep well...That is a Metallurgists wise advice....

Yes at their dad's and his g.f.'s. I think I'm too sleepy for a bath. Maybe a long soak in the morning though!

Milla, this may seem a question , ..how best to phrase it...do you feel pangs of jealousy that your ex husband has a girlfriend and that they have your children for the night? for asking, and if it comes across wrong please feel free to say so...

Glad you asked.
I suppose the normal thing would be to feel as you describe - jealous at her for having him and for having the children.
But no.
If the children like her, that's fine. I'm still their mum, that will never change.
If he is happy with her, great. He wasn't happy with me.
If she is truly happy with him, good. I just hope he doesn't keep dark secrets from her.
I wasn't happy with him for a long time. That time is over.
I wish them well. Honestly.
I have a big load off my shoulders. Practical loads will continue to come, and be solved. But the emotional load is off.
If it is possible to be over someone so easily, then that's what I am. If it is still shock reaction, fine. Don't mind that kind of reaction.
This doesn't mean that him attacking me was OK. I am taking no chances on that, hence the divorce. But I will not dwell on it. It's over now.

Milla, now this may sound really ..but for some obscure reason your response was almost what I expected you to say...I know it is difficult to pick character in a person, but it just seemed to be in your character if you know what I mean....
Oh, and don't worry that I am trying to.....ask you out on a date or something like that..We live on opposite sides of the world, anyway.

Grats!
Milla, I think you seem to be coping with this really well. I've never been in your shoes but I know I'd find it very very hard, so well done you

Pierce..that just about sums up the situation and relationship I have with my ex-wife. We were married for 21 years, and like you we had times, and not so crash hot times. I have been virtually single since the divorce in 1993, but I haven't wallowed in misery and despair..it's not worth it.. I/we have four wonderful kids and nine adorable grandkids, so we must have done something right, at least...

Sounds like you had a lovely evening, Milla. I'm pleased things are going so well. Like you, I would be glad if my ex found a new partner.
I'm rather horrified at how much catching-up I had to do with your blog, especially since I keep wondering how you are getting on. I must visit h2g2 more often!

It's amazing what happens when you make a journal entry - so many friends show up, and before you know it, you're all warm and fuzzy...
I've missed you while you were away!

Pierce, if Milla can cope with us, then she can cope with anything.....Let's face it, we would drive the most sanest person on Earth totally mad given half the chance...That's why people who join hootoo soon lose their sanity and innocence..
Milla, you have more close and loving friends than you can ever imagine.....
