Well I'm a very bad guitar player, but I am trying. I wrote an article on my fave band Limp Bizkit that you accepted into the guild archive. I'd like to contribute more articles to the guide and hence the guild so I'd like to be considered as a member as well.

Hi! I'd like to join, please!
I'm a member of the Musicians Union already and I play piano and keyboards and I sing...
Favourites:
loads! classically trained but played in a chart and disco covers band for 3 years so pretty much every genre. Thick harmonies and captivating rhythms...
what I'd like from the guild:
to meet up with other like minded musicians - have the chance to chat about musicky things
I write a load of stuff and am still a professional musician playing cocktail piano as well as writing my own stuff...I was also born with perfect pitch which means I can hear something once and play it on the piano - as well as telling people what note they blow their nose on - sure it will be useful somewhere!
Hope I'm a member now...
love from L-J

Sorry for the delay, everyone.
I have updated the membership list. Those of you who joined in the last few weeks might enjoy seeing yourself on it. It is at http://www.h2g2.com/A438068
To put the membership graphic on your personal page, go to http://www.h2g2.com/A434648

Finally, we recently voted on an unofficial name for members of the Musicians Guild. We decided to call ourselves MuGs. So welcome to all our new MuGs! We're 70 members strong and still growing.
I also want to take this moment to plead for help in maintaining the Guild. I need at least one person willing to become a co-owner of this club. The job has proven larger than expected, and I'm having trouble keeping up.
The volunteer(s) should be at least passingly familiar with GuideML (or HTML). They will help me maintain the membership list and the directory of music-related entries, and can help keep momentum going with Guild discussions on our group's main page. Please reply to this post to volunteer.

Hello Fragilis...
I haven't gotten deeply involved in the Guild so far, but I would like to be at least a bit of a help. I'd like to volunteer a bit of time to help out.

I'd like to join the Musicians Guild. Please. Please please PLEASE!
OK - look. I play lead guitar in a band (and Bass if needs be) and do most of the vocals in a sort of shouty way cause our lead singer buggered off...and I can do piano a bit although the last time I did an exam was in 197*(cough - yes I'm an old git)
Favourite composer, artist etc...hmm? All sorts of stuff. Classical stuff, I like Prokofiev (spelling?), Tchaicovsky (I'm starting to struggle spelling-wise now - any famous composers called Bob?) and Stravinsky - loud Russians basically. Bandwise - I dunno, Beatles to Bon Jovi, Bowie to Oasis, you know - good stuff. I like Coldplay at present, but that's cause I've got 'Parachutes' in my car..
In particular, I would like a large bag of money from the Musicians Guild, but failing that I wouldn't mind finding a singer in my local area! I could give the old tonsils a rest!
Anyway, what sort of things do you want me to contribute? A gift CD pack of me and my band's greatest hit?
Can I be a member now, huh - go on - huh, eh?

h2g2 Musicians Guild Posted Dec 6, 2000
Beaker, you've been added to our membership list. See the post a couple before yours for information on where to go next. If you tell me where you live, I'll even post an advert on our main page seeking a lead singer. But you don't get a bag of gold, I'm afraid, and I don't accept bribes. Please read that last sentence with the humour intended.
Kumetanzuka, I really do appreciate the help. At this point, the membership list and main page are doing well. But the directory of music-related entries is about a month out of date. If you can do GuideML, I can email you the password to modify the Guild pages and you can help me recover.
I'd also like to start advertising the Guild as a place to get musicians to do "virtual performances" at h2g2. Since Christmas is coming, I bet lots of virtal spots on h2g2 would like someone to pop by and provide happy memories of Christmas tunes. But I've been afraid to advertise, because I won't always have time to inform the MuGs about the various opportunities. Could you perhaps help with that part?
And one more thing. Do you have a nickname? Kumetanzuka is just really hard to type. And you can call me Frag.

lol
Of course - most people (including myself) usually call me Lady K, or even just K for short. JLC the TTP calls me 8 most of the time because of my signature symbol ~8~
Whichever
So will I need to do a search for the music related entries then, and add them to the page? I think I could manage that. Just Edited entries? Oh, if you wish to email me the password, please send to [email protected]
I am passably familiar with GuideML, and certainly, if there is already a template, I can work with that.
I would love to help with advertising or with informing the MuGs, whichever it takes (or both )
At your service, Frag.

Carla the Canadian (Muse of Bassoonists) Posted Dec 12, 2000
Hi all!
I am, quite obviously, Carla the Canadian, and I would really like to join the Musician's Guild.
I have played the bassoon for the past 2 ½ years and currently play in the Edmonton Youth Symphony Orchestra. I also sing and (sort of ) play the piano.
My favorite band? Hmm... well, currently I'd have to say that I am practically obsessed with the Barenaked Ladies and the soundtrack from the musical RENT... I also really like Fauré's Pavane from his Opus # 50.
I really can't think of anything I want from the Guild... I would be willing to help with it's pages though.
Anyway, membership paid, entry requested... please? With sugar on top?

Welcome, Carla the Canadian. You've been added to the Guild's membership list, so you are now officially a MuG. And interestingly, the next person to join after you (Ariel) also turns out to be a Barenaked Ladies fan -- as am I!

You might also want to check the link to the h2g2 Symphony Orchestra on that page. Last I looked, they were still looking for a bassoonist. Welcome in any case!

My personal favorite song from BNL has gotta be When I Fall off the album Born on a Pirate Ship! It's great. Thank you very much, Fragilis, it's very much appreciated! Tell me if there's anything I can do that would be useful for the Guild!

Hello guildmembers,
O.k. so it's high time I wrote this post...
Join ? Why not ? We musicians should take a firm stand against the outside world ! Protect us from all those people who don't say "C" but call it "DO"...
I have played keyboards for about 32 years now(started early...) and guitar for about 20 years. I have also been doing the vocals for bands as well as personal recordings for about 25 years. All that and I'm only 39 !
I recorded several records in the eighties but the real stuff is yet to come in 2001. A new danceband called Solid Air is about to hit the road. A play synthesizers and I do the vocals in the band.
More info can be found at http://www.braineye.nl/solidair
My favorite band? HAH ! How much space do you have left...A list through the ages perhaps ?
Genesis
Camel
Brand X
Queen
Loudon Wainwright III
Tears for Fears
LTJ Bukem
Tricky
Massive Attack
...and the list goes on...
I can't think of anything that the guild could provide me with at the moment... I am of course willing to help out any researcher who has questions about synthesizers. Try me, I might just know the solution.
