Waffle House is based out of Norcross, Georgia. Some interesting (to me) facts:
Most Waffle Houses (untill recently) don't have locks on thier doors. They really believe in 24 hours. The only time they use the locks is after a robbery, to aid police. Wafle houses are a particular attraction to transfer truck drivers, and the company knows this. On I-85 in Atlanta, it is common to see a house on every exit, often haveing two Houses, one on the northbound side, and one on the southbound side for convience. Regular customers are known by name, and it is easy to become a regular customer.
The uper management have company 4-wheel drive vehicles. In winter snows, when everything closes, you can find the Waffle House open with the employes being delivered by the manager of marketing.
The jukebox. Ever chancing songs in the 'box, with the exception of the "yellow" songs. These are the house's own songs featureing not-so-great-hits like "We are the Waffle House People". These songs are listed in yelow along the left hand side of the 'box.
The house isn't just for the informal slouching or 4am test cram. My wife's parents had their wedding reception in a House, with hot coffee for all.
Favorite House meal: pecan waffle topped with bert's chili. No kidding.

I don't know about the chili, but the pecan waffles are indeed to die for. In most of the country, pecans are useful for Christmas pies and the occasional candy. That's it. But you really must try Waffle House pecan waffles if you ever go.

the Chicken sandwich I had at the Grove City (Columbus) Ohio Waffle house a month ago was the best I ever tasted.

Interesting point. Of course, Michiganders have always wondered why Southerners close all their schools and businesses when a storm blows in a measly half inch of snow. Nice to see some Rebs understand how to drive through it.
On the other hand, maybe this explains why we haven't seen any Waffle Houses north of Toledo (if that). In a real storm, regional managers would have to deliver employees via snowmobile.
