I have fond memories of the Waffle House chain as a child travelling by car from Massachusetts to Florida and Geargia. A stop at a Waffle House was always expected. Us kids would always annouce the sight of one, like others would play "Punch Bug".
Several years ago I had the opportunity to visit a Waffle House and was deeply offended that they no longer serve butter but instead have fallen victum to that industrial blend "Country Crock". What's a pecan waffle without real butter?
Please be forewarned to Bring Your Own Butter when visiting these establishments. Your experience there will be greatly enhanced!

Just so you know, almost all of the Waffle Houses around still use real butter for the toast. If you ask nicely, they will usually put some of that butter on a plate or even on the waffle itself for you.
